My epsom sx405 printer wont print any text even though all four colours are charged. What can I do?

my Epson printer stopped printing text 3 days ago even though all the colours are charged. There is no other indication that anything is wrong. The paper feeds through as normal and makes all the right noises but the paper is blank. If I try to print an image the printout looks like a colour negative with thin green lines going across the image!? Actually this problem started after I scanned an image in then tried to print it!

My Epsom 6500 keeps defaulting to 6 x 4 inch and best picture even though I try to get it to stay at A4, text.

Open printers in control panel, right click on the Epson and select printing preferences and chage paper size there, it should now keep the new size as it's default.

Print keeps fading, even though using new ink

check your printer settings, make sure color only is not checked off, or if you mainly print black and white documents, you should have that option checked, you may have to go into advance printer options to do this.

One colour cartridge on epsom sx200 is empty yet it wont allow me to print in black only

umm... this is not a solution because I don't think there is one apart frombuying new inks. Epson and all other inkjet printers do this to preventthe coloured print head nozzles from getting blocked. If they are notused for a long time the ink dries up and blocks the nozzles. Epsonrecommends printingat least once a month with all colours to prevent this. Printing inblack only option will only work if the colored inks are OK. Wheneverthe printeris turned on it performs a head clean, this is why the coloured inksget used over time even though they are not used for printing.

Wont print in colour

Check the printer settings in "Control Panel", "Printers" are not set to "Greyscale" or "Black & White".

Inks

Hi, Whenever the printer is turned on it performs a head clean, this is why the coloured inks get used over time even though they are not used for printing. Unless you have selected "print in black & white only" your printer will "mix" the coloured inks with the black, also check the printer options to ensure you are not using the photographic quality as this will use inks very rapidly. You need to consider a couple of things, firstly the official line: Epson (and all other inkjet manufacturers) do this to prevent the coloured print head nozzles from getting blocked. If they are not used for a long time the ink dries up and blocks the nozzles. Epson recommends printing at least once a month with all colours to prevent this. The 2nd unofficial line is that it is a win-win situation for manufacturers. Firstly they get to cut down on costly warranty call outs for blocked heads (replacement printers, technician manhours, etc) and secondly they get to sell lots more inks (Ka-ching!). If you really want to print black text only (and save cash on price per-print) then a mono-laser printer is the best way as they can now be bought at inkjet prices.

The ''odometer'' shows greyscale as colour

Any machine I'm familiar with has a default colour setting that you can set to either colour or black & White. Check in your printer properties. If the machine is set for colour, even if you are printing all black text for example, it will "make" the black from the colours, thus registering it as a colour document.

I own an Epson Stylus SX405 Multifunctional Printer. I can only copy documents (which then get printed). Somehow I can't seem to scan though. How can I scan? Hope you can help. Thanks, Caroline

You'll need to have it connected to a pc with the software installed to accept the scans and store them, organize them, etc etc....

I cannot find an SX405 Printer even on the manufacturers site. I searched and found one that looks VERY similar to the SX400 series.

Hereis the link to the software directly from Epson to allow you to scan.
Download the Scanner Driver and EPSON Scan Utility v3.45A

This is the page I pulled this from.

Not print and not scann without colour cartridge

most printer require all cartridge to be present and recognised before they will operate- even though you only wish to print -say- text in black. When printing in most machines all colours print even if it is only text you want. Except some machine can have a black only mode This will be found in the properties menu, if your machine has the facility
