Check its wiring connection. Could be loose connection, corrosion.Or the breaker is already retiring. If the breaker is fairly rated to the aircon unit. Also insect could be the culprit.

There is a time delay on the stat to the AC unit, in addition the AC unit likely has one also, so immediate activation as desired isnt likely, however in 10 minutes of asking for AC if its not on still Id check the time delay fuses in the service disconnect at the AC unit, its a small grey box with the power cords running to and from it, there is 2 time delay fuses inside this box.

Breaker keeps tripping after several hours of runtime. System has 40 amp breaker & is only drawing 31 amps.

electric motors (when they start to break-down) will run normally for hours (and read amps within the tolerance level).

Then after a long run time - the amps will 'spike' and trip the breaker.

This is a fairly common occurance - although there are other things that can cause a similar problem (though less likely), i.e. a dirty condenser coil, an improperly charged unit - or a bad breaker.

Bottom line. I think you need a Service Tech to take a look at the AC.

hope this helps

One year old Danby dac8075ee, HAS NO POWER, what could be wrong ? please help

your air conditioner has no 'power' on it's own. It must get the power from an electrical outlet.

It is possible that the outlet you are plugged into is 'dead,' i.e. not working. One simple way to test this is to plug in another electrical appliance, hair dryer for example to test it and see if it's working.

If you do this and the other electrical device works then you know your AC is getting the 'power' it needs to operate - in which case you have a problem with your AC, and will probably need to call a Service Tech.

If, however, you plug in another device and it - too - does not work then you know the problem is within the outlet, probably a 'breaker' that is off or has tripped off. So, you need to locate the breaker - box.

This "breaker - box" (in most houses) will be located in the garage, utility room, or behind a door somewhere in the house, i.e. kitchen or bedroom.

If your outlet is not working - just go to the breaker box and open the door and look for a breaker (looks like a light switch) that is in the off position or perhaps half way off and half way on. Once you find this breaker - be sure your AC is plugged in and - just flip it (breaker switch) back in the "on" position.

Note: if the breaker switch trips right back off - then you know you have a direct short in your AC and probably will need the help of a Service Tech.

If this is the problem and the breaker stays in the on position and the AC runs and cools - you are probably ok, unless the breaker trips again in a short time span.

If that happens you most likely have a problem in the unit although it's possible the breaker is bad - in any event you are probably in the need of a Service Tech.

good luck!

When turning on central air, our main electrical breaker is tripping. This is a brand new home barely over 1 year old. Should the AC have a warranty not covered by a builders contract??

Builders give a one year warranty but your air conditioner has five years on all parts. Anything outside the unit is not covered under the ac warranty. Breakers, stopped up drain and dirty coils.

My ac circuit breaker keep tripping

If your outside condenser has a locked rotor or short circuit, than the unit WILL trip the breaker - as it should. On the other hand if a breaker is tripped a few times it will have less of a capacity that the rating, (this is designed in it). You will need to determine if the unit is locked (and broken) or the breaker has become too sensitive.
