DVD/GD Rom not detected by system under my computer, device mmanager or in BIOS.

when u start ur system try pessing f8 or f10 or watever is the key for boot option nd from there u can select from which device to boot

Did you try restarting Windows? Get into BIOS and check if the CD drive is being detected.. Otherwise its probably dead.

Try this quick fix :
Get a screw driver, unscrew your machine and remove your drive. If you cant do this by yourself, just try and get a good technician to do it for you.
After this, power up your system normally without the drive connected.
Then shut down properly, and reconnect the drive, making sure that its firmly connected.
Then power on again and check it in the system BIOS if its now detected, then save and exit, then boot your system properly again.Then when the system boots, just right click on my computer, then properties, then select the hardwares tab, then click on device manager.
When you get to device manager page, try and locate DVD/CDrom Drives, then click on it, if your drive is there, then just right-click on it, and select uninstall, and after this, on that same page, click on 'Actions', and select "Scan for hardware changes". But if its not there. Just click on the "Actions, and Then select "Scan for hardware changes".
This should automatically out it back inside your My Computer page.

Please check the device manager for the DVD drive entry listed under CD/DVD drive. If it is not listed in the device manager then set the BIOs to default settings.

Check your system BIOS whether it is Detected there, if no, Shutdown your system, Press your CD-Rom drive towards the system firmly (Incase its making a partial contact), and restart your system. If Yes, then Start your system, Right-Click on my computer, go to properties, Device Manager, DVD/CDRom Drives. and click on it. if your CD Rom Drive is not detected there, then on the Device Manager Screen, click on Action, Scan for hardware changes, your system should detect it automatically. But if its already there, right-click on it, Uninstall it and do the scan system for hardware changes again. It should solve the problem like that.

To enable the DVD drive :-
Click on Control Panel - then System - then Hardware tab - then Device Manager - then expand DVD/CD-ROM drives.
Then right click on your DVD drive and click on Properties.
Then at the bottom under Device useage scroll down and select Use this device (enable) - then click OK

Is the Drive detected in the BIOS? Can you boot from your Windows or any bootable disc? If so try this solution:

Always backup your registry before editing and use care to find exact key!
Start Registry Editor (Start, Run and type in regedit then click)

Find "UpperFilters" and "LowerFilters" (and "UpperFilters.bak" "LowerFilters.bak", if they exist) value under the following key in the registry, and delete it:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

Quit Registry Editor.

Reboot.

NOTE: You might need to reinstall any CD recording apps you have, if they start to not work completely, after doing this.

Right Click My Computer

Click properties

Find and click the hardware Tab

Click The Device Manager Button

This will bring up the device manager in a new window , from here locate your DVD Drive under : DVD/CD ROM Drives

Click the plus sign next to it and the installed CD / DVD Devices will be shown

To uninstall the CD / DVD Rom Right click on it and choose uninstall

To Reinstall Reboot , and Windows Will Automatically Detect The CD-Rom Drive and install it for you

You might have a lose conection with the rom data cable....che ch the both ends of the ROM data cable

Check it from Device manager;

Right Click my computer. Go to properties.Hardware tab; Device manager; See under device manager ! any yello sign; ETC;


If you could not find any alternate Best Solution is try replacing CD DVD Rom
