Question about Hayward Pool Products Hayward 400k Lp H Series Spa & Pool Heater
IF code appears, heater starts up and shuts off after two seconds; Can I try lighting manually, to get it going just for today, and if so, how do you light it manually?
You can not manually light it. Open the front cover look for the gas nozzles brass looking on a tube. on the right side you will see a wire going to a sensor above the next to last burner take the nozzle out for that burner. 7/16 wrench unsrcew the nozzle and see if it is clogged. use something soft to push it out. Spiders love to lay eggs in these. Spray with WD40 and reassemble should work now
Best of luck

Hayward Pool Heater won't light?
Clean the gas jets of white spider guck! After shutting the gas off, loosen the two front cover screws and remove it, use a 7/16 wrench to unscrew each jet (8 on mine), clean it out with a pipe cleaner something similar, WD40 it, and reinstall.

IF is ignition failure,
and no you cannot light an electronic heater manually, there is no standing pilot.
check gas orifices for blockage, if not tou may need to replace HSI

It could be that the Igniter has gone bad. Or it cold be a number of other items, like the gas valve itself. If the heater has a display panel on it, is there an error code showing? If there is, go to your Owner's Manual and find out what the code is for the heater.
If you do not have a manual, you can find one online at the following link:

Code "CE" stands for communication error and describes a fault between the mother board and the display. I doubt it's the relay causing it though...

AO will apply to your blower, blower tubing, or blower vacuum switch. You need to check these items.
