Check the cable that is connected to the hard drive to the board. Even a small scratch can lead to this problem. I found out the hard way. but it works

I have a presario c500 that comes up to the f10 and esc screen upon booting, and then will go blank and continue to loop though the screen again and again. I have removed the battery and held the power...

It is your operating system that is failing, not your hardware. When Windows hits a Blue Screen of Death on startup it happens so fast that you only see it for a split second then it reboots. If you want to know what the issue is, when it reboots wait till the first screen goes away, (the f10 and esc screen you mentioned) then start tapping F8 every few seconds. It will bring up a new menu that has options like Safe Mode, Safe Mode with Networking, etc. Choose "Disable Automatic Restart on System Failure" then hit enter. Windows will continue to boot and then will stop on the Blue Screen of Death. Copy down the info on the screen and enter it into a Google search or post on here for me to diagnose. Let me know if you need more help.

Windows vista cannot start in normal mode. it keeps flickering between black and blue screens. it can start in safe mode. i have run all diagnostics (chkdsk, scannow, repairs, etc) to no avail

So many computer face this blue screen fetal errors on windows.

This error comes usually when there is problem in software or driver compatibility issue with hardware or operating system.
Also this error comes when there is bed indexing unit in hard drive.
You can solve this errors with following 2 methods.
(1)When you power up the computer press F8 key then enter in safe mode.
Then if you are able to enter in safe mode then uninstall driver or software which you installed recently and face this error.
(2)If you are not able to enter in safe mode Then you need to fix error on hard drive. For that you need windows disk or recovery disk.
Boot your computer with that disk
For that when you power up the computer press F1 or F2 "del" key to enter in bios.
Then go to boot menu and set first boot device as your cd or dvd rom.
Then save settings and exit bios.
Insert windows disk in cd /dvd rom.
Then it boot with that disk. Then you get this message "Press any key to boot from cd.."
Then press any key.
Then follow the procedure then enter in recovery console mode then type in prompt "chkdsk /r"
Then type "y"
Then it fix error on hard drive.
Then check if again you are not able to enter in windows then boot again and this time choose "R" option for repair previous windows " then it repairs old windows then it loads again old windows.
Thanks for using FixYa.

Hello,
Have you tried to boot in Safe mode? Well if not then press F8 as the PC starts and select safe mode. If it works, then select the 'system restore' option which will appear and restore the system to as far back as it worked very well. Your files will be intact. Well if safe mode those not work, then since you cannot change your boot order to boot from CD/DVD, then you would have to take out your hard drive and connect it to another PC and follow this tip of mine: http://www.fixya.com/support/r3766678-booting_bootable_windows_cd_dvd_fresh

All the best.

Reinstalling

Hard drive has bad sectors on it which is why its giving you that message even though you can go thru the restore. Normally going thru the system cd and then the recovery cd should bring you into windows with the device drivers installed.

Blue screen of death

Hi there
"Unmountable Boot Volume." means that the system 32 folder has become corrupt and probably you will have to recover the system.
If you have XP CD for a clean install, you have to change the boot order from within the bios (F2 on boot up) and tell it to boot from CD.
This will change the boot order and allow you to reinstall the OS.
Be warned that you WILL loose data if this is the only option open to you.

Good luck

Boot sequence / bios password issues with Acer Aspire 5100

Hoping you are using some version of windows OS. Go to safe mode... press the power button to boot and while booting keep pressing F8 which will allow you to go to safe mode and reboot the machine if you are able to sucessfully able to go to safe mode. Now boot to normal mode as usual boot. If you still notice BSOD(blue screen of death) then once more go to safe mode and uninstall the new softwares if you have installed any on your laptop recently like graphics device driver or audio driver so on.... if you are not sure of new softwares installed.. use system restore method in safe mode to restore the system to older date it should resolve your problem. system restore tool of windows will be in start-> program -> accesories-> system tools-> system restore.

Reboot your system-press and hold F8 until you get a list of options-select Safe Mode-enter.Your system will run in Safe Mode, giving you a dropdown list as it progresses-check where it stops. In this way you can establish wether you have a corrupted or incompatible driver and which {Graphic ie} stop the system. You will have to reload the OS to solve the problem. If you cannot even boot into Safe Mode, your drive very likely crashed.Happy landing.
