Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I'm having a problem with scandisk cruzer micro; it's has been locked after a few attempt for password. I have search around and found that they are using "double security - access control and data encryption". Can anybody help to break this lock?

Each U3 smart drive comes with a pre-defined number of login attempts. When you have only 3 attempts remaining, you will receive a warning message to prevent losing your data unnecessarily.
SanDisk does not have any method to bypass the password security feature on Cruzer U3 flash drives. SanDisk has not built in any back door or password reset methods. If the password feature is enabled and you exceed the number of incorrect password attempts, the drive will lock. Once the drive is locked there is no way to unlock the drive or gain access to the data stored on the device. You can only select the format feature, which will perform a secure erase (drive wipe) and data recovery will NOT be possible. U3 Cruzer flash drives which are password protected use 128bit AES encryption for data security

Locked scandisk cruser 16GB, need help unlocking it...

There are a number of utilities that might be helpful, but if your data is encrypted it may not make any difference if you crack the filesystem lock.

First I would just try some simple diskedit program. Check here for candidates. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disk_editor.

If these cannot get through then I'd try Spinrite from grc.com. This costs $$ but is almost invincible.

In extremis, I'd do a quick format then a file recovery ritual with something like FileScavenger.

There is a locked boot partition on this little gem that contains the security features keeping you away from your stuff.

ScanDisk Cruzer Memory Stick locked up.

Try the data recovery using Sandisk Recovery Pro. It might be of help.

Download it from:

http://rapidshare.com/files/81879037/SanDisk.RescuePRO.Deluxe.v4.0.Multilingual.zip

And install it. Then run it.

If it doesn't help, there are other tools that might be of help.

Don't mess with that , microcircuits are not to be tampered with unless you know exactly what you're doing and have all the nessessary tools and a clean room.

if it's not broken don't fix it.
