Start-up failure My PS3 will not start up at all. After it says Sony Computer Entertainment, the wave-like lines that go across the screen before the XBM comes up freezes.

You have a hard disk drive failure. As far as I know, only Sony can fix that.

Same problem just happened to me. Playing a game and the game froze. Sat there in shock for about 10 to 15 seconds and the screen went black. Shut it off. Now every time I go to turn it back on again it starts up, I get the PS3 logo and then the blue wave starts. About 5 seconds after that the wave starts to lag and then nothing.... Stays on the lagging blue wave screen... THIS BLOWS!!!!!!!!!!!

when the system is powered on hold the power button down until you hear it beep twice, I am unsure if this is what you were talking about or not but it should reset the system to factory settings

unplug PS3. Wait 10 minutes and turn on.
do the same with the power supply.

sounds like yur cables arent quite right try switching them around and making sure they are good and plugged all the way in

sounds like the motherboard may have gone out which is extremely common in the ps3

Hey guys, same thing happened to me. In case you're looking at this site like I recently had been, I just wanted to post a little update. I bought my PS3 on the Christmas of 2007, and it stopped working after I played an online round of Tekken: Dark Resurrection on July 5. It froze on the wavy part of the introduction of the PS3 system. So what you do is:

1. Press the PS3 "touch" power button and hold it until you hear two buttons "beep"
2. Connect your USB cord to your ps3 controller and press the center button when instructed on the screen.
3. Choose the third choice on the screen which says something about restoring the data (sorry i cant remember i know its the third choice though)
4. When it asks you its question say "Yes." and it will begin the restoring process with the download bar.
5. When its complete it may make you do step 4 once more, so just do it again, or any more times it asks, until it finally restarts properly. ( I had to do it two times)
