Question about AKG C419L Professional Microphone

1 Answer

Excessive line crackling noise

Plug the AKG C 419 PP into XLR socket on desk and line is crackling.. Seems to be possibly the wiring inside the articulated arm of the mike. Touching the end of teh mike doesn't crackle, just when touching/moving the arm..

The service manual is at www.akg.com/mediendatenbank2/psfile/datei/19/C4194055d1fa264a7.pdf. You will have to replace the wiring that goes to the cartridge through the gooseneck.

AKG 120 to Tascam US-800 connection issues

There is no reason to use such a configuration with the US-800. I advise using a standard XLR mic cable. It's likely phantom power doesn't work over the 1/4" jacks.

How can you open an AKG 220 perception mic to repair it? the mic got knocked over and still works, but the inside seems loose, moving around from side to side.

at the bottom of the mic where the xlr connector is you'll find a ring screw with two notches. unscrew this and you con remove the lower housing. The upper housing is hold by 5 screws.

Is there a spiecal jack plug for a microphone. stupidly cut old plug off and threw it away without looking at the wiring

You can actually wire it up with any type of connection you need. The most common are a ts (tip sleeve) 3.5mm Jack; a 6.35mm 1/4 inch Jack or an XLR connection.

It just depends on what you're plugging into.

Hope this helps

My akg perception 200 is not responding

Have you tried using a another XLR cable..,or are the other mics phantom powered condensers..ie try to locate if its a mic problem or the cable..2 other points are 1 - XLR leads for phantom mics need to be XLR to XLR male to Female plugs[ends] 2- is that often an XLR to XLR cable will be not soldered or wired right,so that the power [phantom power is not getting to the mic] so ensure you have a proper cable for that job...Sorry i can't be more specific but from reading your problem all these issues come to mind..If you have ruled all these things out, then it could be the capsule or loose joint or component in the mic which means contact AKG,pro audio services or find a DIY mic person to help..G luck!!

Creates excessive noise with no signal

Could you swap with a different mic so you could be sure if the line/cable are allright or confirm that the mic is defective... Also when repairing a mic, 90% of problems come from the connector welds. Use a small flat glasses screwdriver and have a look at the weld of the xlr connector from the inside...

AKG Model C451 EB Microphone.

I drilled a tiny hole (.038") through the outer shell and the cartdrige where the body of the XLR connector is mounted and screwed a tiny screw into it from a pair of old glasses.
