Hi Natasha

ZV5000
To get the scroll function working again, do the following and follow these directions exactly.

1. Click Start >Control Panel
2. Double click Mouse Icon
3. Click on Gestures tab
4. Place a Checkmark against Use Vertical Scrolling function and Use Vertical Scrolling function.
5. Click Apply > OK
6. Click the Setting button to adjust the scroll speed.

If you have tried the above and you couldn't see the "Gestures" tab, do the following.

Download the ALPS Touchpad Driver from the HP website >here< (if the link doesn't work, go to the HP website, find the ZV5000 and look for the ALPS Touchpad driver) and save it on your desktop.

Now uninstall the old drivers using Device Manager
1. Right Click on "My computer" and select Properties
2. Click on Hardware tab > Device Manager button.
3. Click on the + sign next to Mice and pointing devices.
4. Right Click on the Alps Pointing Device and select uninstall.
5. Double Click your new driver file that was saved on your desktop, to install it.
5. Restart the ZV5000. Windows will detect the hardware and will load the new drivers for it.

Check to see if the scroll function works. If not, do the following

1. Click Start >Control Panel
2. Double click Mouse Icon
3. Click on Gestures tab
4. Place a Checkmark against Use Vertical Scrolling function and Use Vertical Scrolling function.
5. Click Apply > OK
6. Click the Setting button to adjust the scroll speed.

If you have followed exactly what I have said here, the scroll function will work fine. Let me know how you go!

Best wishes

Jeff

The touch mouse will scroll and move but won't click.

you might have to reset it
Most modern laptops with touchpads offer vertical scrolling, horizontal scrolling or both. These features are located along the right-hand and bottom edges of the touchpad, respectively, and are activated when you swipe your finger along the touchpad edge. Scrolling functionality is nearly always enabled by default, but some users find the feature an annoyance and elect to turn it off. In most cases you can simply turn the feature back on using the Windows Control Panel.

Click the Windows Start button, select "Settings," and then click "Control Panel." Double-click the icon labeled "Mouse." Select the Touchpad properties tab. The labeling of this tab varies, depending on your computer manufacturer, operating system version and the device drivers installed on your machine. Common labels include "Touch Pad," "Device Settings" and "Dell Touchpad." If you do not see this option, you may not be able to turn on scrolling for your laptop; skip the remaining steps and refer to the "Warnings" section below. Click the "Settings" button within the Touchpad Properties menu and look for the section labeled "Scrolling Settings" or similar. Enable scrolling within this section and define other scroll settings, such as scroll zone width and scrolling speed. Click "OK" to confirm your changes, and then close the Control Panel windows opened in the previous steps. The scrollbar on your laptop is now enabled.
Scroll Is Not Working With Windows 7 b> Certain computer touchpads have a vertical section on the pad itself that is used to scroll through the page or program window that you are currently viewing on your computer. If the scroll functionality suddenly stops working but the actual touchpad is still fine, this means that the part of the software for the device that controls the ability to use the scroll has been disabled. You can enable it again in the Control Panel.
Click "Start." Click "Control Panel." Click "Mouse." Select the "Enable Scroll" option (or whatever similarly named option is available on your specific model of laptop computer). Click "Apply." The scroll bar on your touchpad will now work again.

Describe your dv7-1245dx touchpad windows 7 Problem: The touchpad scrolling feature does not work. All other functions of the laptop are fine.

For the full capabilities of the touchpad, you will need the Synaptics touchpad software and drivers. Look for your operating system here and download and install the Synaptics PS/2 Port TouchPad Driver under Keyboard and other input devices.

Scroll bar not working all of the sudden. I use firefox and has never been an issue for my pavilion before. I did use a public wi-fi at a hospital briefly and had to use IE because firefox never works in...

First, lets make sure that scrolling is still enabled. Look in the bottom right of the taskbar and see if your synaptics icon for the touchpad properties is there. It will either look like the touchpad or it will be a red icon in the shape of a tear drop. If it is there, right click on it and scroll to properties. If it is not there, go to the control panel and click on mouse properties. When the mouse properties window opens, look on the top right hand side and look for the tab marked device properties, click on this tab...this is for the touchpad settings and controls. When this window opens, look in the left hand pane and scroll down to "scrolling", see if the box is checked to enable scrolling....if it is checked, uncheck it, hit apply, then check it again and hit apply again, click ok and exit. Now, if you do not see any of the above and all you see is mouse settings, then the driver for the touchpad has been corrupt and you will need to go to HP support drivers and download a new driver for the touchpad. Go to the link below and put in the model number of your laptop, then in the next window pick your operating system, now, scroll down and find the touchpad driver listed. Download it into a folder on your deskyop, open the file and run it, it will install a fresh driver. Reboot the laptop and all settings will be on by default.

My laptop is an HP dv6000 and all of a sudden the scroll button on my touchpad doesn't work. The touchpad is still working, it's only the scroll button that doesn't work. What should I do??? Please help....

Go to the device manager and look up the mouse. When you open it, there should be a tab at the top that says device settings. Click on this tab, it is for the touchpad. Go through the settings for the touchpad and make sure that scrolling is enabled.

First off my scroll bar stopped working. now when

HP Quickplay is already a blotware (bulky). Try some other players like VLC or media player classic.

About the touchpad, there's no scroll because u have not loaded the driver at startup. Only basic touchpad driver is loaded. So, u need to add the driver program to startup. I hope it would be of synaptics. Run the pgm in program files folder. Ur scroll will be fine
