On your remote that you bought there should be a button that says code search hold that button untill it lights up then press tv then put in the codes depneding on the model either it ahould automaticly put it in or press enter. Repeat untill it works

Maybe the program was erased. go to menu and press the auto search program,,, check the bad solders around the tuner. or its possible that the tuner is bad.
The problem is a vertical deflection issue, it means the picture from top to bottom has collapsed. The set will require two or three capacitors and an ic and it is quite fixable.
HI ,USE A PATTERN GENERATAR DOT OR LINES TYPE AND USE THE CONVERGANCE RINGS BEHIND THE YOKE OF THE SET ,THERE ARE THERE RINGS FOR EACH COLOUR RED GREEN AND RED .SLIGHTLY MOVE THE RINGS AND U CAN SE EIN THE PATTREN THE COCLOUS WHICH IS FRINGES EACH BY EACH U ADJUST ALL THERE RINGS FOR PERFECTION , FIRST LET THE SET BE SWITCHED ON FOR 1 HOUR AND THEN DO THE ADJUSTMENT. With regards to the brigthness issue, you can adjust the brightness control of the your unit through the Screen control located along the flyback of your TV.
Solder any / all bad solder connects.While doing that,Look for
overheated areas in power circuits,caused by bad capacitors,
resulting in burnt/open resistors,shorted diodes,etc,.........T.
