Unable to factory reset - all port lights stay on with just power cable plugged in

My netgear wireles router WGR614v6 router is unable to be reset by the factory reset button on the back of the router. I've tried several times. Only the power cable is on now, but all port lights stay on. Is it fried? In the last two weeks I can only get a web site to stay on for about 45 seconds and loading about 60-70% with extremely slow connections. Noticed router was hot yesterday. Good with tech stuff but can't get this router to reset at all. Help.

All port lights showing on a router indicate a bad control board in the router. I'd say it's toast.

You can reset your Netgear WGR614v6 router to the factory settings from within the router manager. The reset procedure removes all user-configured settings and returns the router to the original factory settings.

For this reason, only reset the router if you encounter problems that can't be solved with other methods.

Step 1: Check that your Netgear WGR614v6 router is properly connected with your system or not. If it is OK, then press reset button on Netgear router for at least 10 seconds. The 'test' light should flash during this process.

Step 2: Now open browser and enter Netgear's IP address into the address bar. Generally, '192.168.0.1' is the Netgear router IP address but you can find specific IP address in Netgear router manual.

Step 3: Now enter your default username and password to log in to router.

Step 4: Click 'Erase' button under the 'Revert to Factory Default Settings'. This process will erase all your previous changes that have been made to the router and restore the configuration settings to factory setting. Don't interrupt the process until the process is finished.

Once the router's 'test' light has stopped blinking and the configuration page you are on has refreshed, the router has been reset.

I have a Netgear WNR2000 v4 router. We recently had a power outage.Power came back on in 5 seconds. The cable modem is fine, however the router ONLY shows me a solid green light for power, nothing else.

I would just do the reset, this should allow you to access at factory defaults. (I hold button in for 10 sec).

A solid green (power?) light is good
LAN ports should only light if connected
WiFi port should light if set to active

I can't connect to my router. tried to access http://192.168.0.1 bot page won't open

If this is a brand new router and you are trying to connect to it for the first time then 192.168.0.1 should work, as long as you have the correct kind of cable plugged in and are following the directions.
The manual for this router is at: http://kbserver.netgear.com/pdf/dg834g_dg834gb_ref_manual_03Jun05.pdf
If you are not concerned about losing your routers settings and are setting it up for the first time then you can do a "hard reset" to make sure that the address of the router has not been changed.
First off, let's make sure you are plugged into the router correctly.
1e17290.jpg
The cable from your computer to the router should be plugged in to one of the LAN ports, NOT the ADSL Internet port. If you have it plugged in correctly and you are unable to access it still then I would try to RESET the router to default settings.
You can do a reset by using a paper clip or similar object to press the RESET button, which is in the small hole as shown in the diagram.
1. Press and hold the Default Reset button until the Test LED turns on (about 10 seconds). 2. Release the Default Reset button and wait for the router to reboot.
YOU MUST HOLD THE RESET BUTTON UNTIL THE TEST LED TURNS ON!
This will rest the router to the factory default and allow you to access it at the address 192.168.0.1.
NOTE: After you reset the administration password is the word "password"
Please ask if you need further assistance. If you still cannot access the router at 192.168.0.1 after a reset then you should check your cabling and/or ask for more help.

Router wont connect to internet

Here are some troubleshooting steps that I suggest you try:

1. Check physical connections.

a. Connect the modem to the Internet port of the router. The Internet “i” LED on the front of the router should light up.
b. Connect the computer to one of the four LAN ports (i.e port 1, 2, 3 or 4) on the back of the router. The corresponding port light where you connected the computer should be lit up.

2. Access the router's web-based utility.

a. Please open any web browser like Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator.
b. Connect to the router by typing http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1 in the address field and click Enter or Return key.
c. A window will prompt for a user name and password. By default, the user name is "admin" and the password is "password".

Note: If you were unable to access the router's web-based utility, you may reset the router to restore the settings to factory default.

To reset the router:

a. Please push the reset button at the back of the router and release after 30 seconds.
b. Unplug the power adapter for 10 seconds and then plug it back in.

3. Configure the router.

If your Internet Service Provider is using a cable connection, please follow the steps below:

a. Click on Basic Settings under Setup tab.
b. Select No for Does Your Internet Connection Require A Login?.
c. Scroll down on the center page and look for the Router MAC Address section. Set it to Use computer MAC address and click on the Apply button.

If your Internet Service Provider is using a DSL connection, please follow the steps below:

a. Click on Basic Settings.
b. Select Yes for Does Your Internet Connection Require A Login?.
c. Select Other on the Internet Service Provider drop down box.
d. Enter your ISP's username (username@ISPdomain) and password. Then, click on Apply.

4. Power cycle.

a. Power off the modem, router and computers.
b. Turn on the power of the modem first and wait for it to initialize, the lights to stop blinking.
c. Power back the router and the computers. Check if it will be able to get online.

From the above configuration, please check if you can now access the Internet.

Netgear wgr614v6 factory settings

If this is on the router itself, cycle the power first. If still no good, then clear the router's configuration to factory defaults. This will set the routers ip address to 192.168.1.1. You should have the manual and this will be on page 7-7 if not check out the link below

Netgear WG602 wireless router,

Hi, Assuming that the WG602 is fully operational, when you did a hard reset, the router reverted to its original factory setting as you posted. The default pre-configuration: act as a DHCP client; if the WG602 does not find a DHCP server on the Ethernet LAN, it defaults to this IP configuration: DHCP Client - Enable IP Address ? 192.168.0.227 IP Subnet Mask ? 255.255.255.0 Gateway ? 0.0.0.0 Your PC need to be connected via a LAN cable to one of the Ethernet ports of the AP/Router to be able to configure it again to your desired network settings. Further it is necessary likewise to manually configure the connected PC's networking configuration to match the router. Manually configure your PC's IP Address to 192.168.0.228, Subnet Mask ? 255.255.255.0, Gateway - 192.168.0.227. You can now try configuring the router through its web interface (192.168.0.227). This is better explained in the user's manual available at the Netgear site ( Hope this be of some help/idea. Post back should you need additional information. Good luck and kind regards.
