If you can't read info on the card, reformat it. Has this card ever worked? Did you recently buy it off Ebay, possibly a fake 8 Gb that is really a lower capacity?

Before the 8GB had been used began getting messages that was out of storage space, put an 8GB memory card in shows on storage that a memory card is mounted but still says out of storage space.

some phones allow you to merge the storage on your memory card with the base memory of the phone , which makes the memory card no longer unpluggable, sounds like you have added your card as a pluggable card and theerefore it wont affect the base memeory, dependent on the phone you may be able to move all your music and photos to the mem card and this will free up core storage, soem phones even allow you to move applications. hope that this helps

My Blackberry storm application memory is low how do i increase it

Welcome to FixYa.

To have more storage capacity for your phone, delete unimportant SMS in your INBOX, OUTBOX and SENT ITEMS. Delete also unimportant pictures, videos, music and ringtones. The phone memory is relatively small and is shared to all data and other files that are stored in the phone. By deleting some of these will free you some memory.

Alternatively, you can also put in a Micro SD memory card
to your phone (Memory Card model depends to what your cell phone is compatible of, Micro SD is a sample), which will also increase its storage capacity. A Micro SD Card look something like the picture below. jas247_78.jpg

A 16GB Micro SD is available at AMAZON

joel paterso,

I will list a couple of suggestions that you may already know about, but hey anything is better than nothing, you'll go away knowing you tried everything.

1. It could be that the memory card is now corrupted, in this case there is no hope just buy a new on from ebay, thay are alot cheaper there if u can wait a week or so.

2. It could be that the software is only recognizing "free space" so don't worry. you still have 8GB of memory. Maybe there's a compatibility issue with the blackberry software recognizing your music. I don't think there is a major problem with anything here.

3. You could try erasing the music off of it to see if the software will recognize it as 8GB, if it does then its because of reason #2

There you go Just my thoughts as to what you could do to troubleshoot you issue. If you have anymore questions just let me know!

Why wont my blackberry storm read my memory card?

Hi, try to check the memory card in different phone, if the memory card is working, then format the memory card once and then try with your blackberry strom. If still the issue continues then there is a hardware issue. Please contact your service provider or venndor the handset has to checked in service centre.

I need to back up my contacts from phone memory to card in a blackberry storm

Would you like to try this........

  • Unlock device of device keyboard.
  • Connect it via USB cable to your desktop computer.
  • A new removable drive will appear in "My computer" drives list.
  • Run Blackberry Desktop Manager on your desktop computer
  • Open "Backup and Restore" icon
  • Click on "Backup" button and specify target folder on this removable drive. For example if this removable drive has assigned letter E then the target folder for backup will be: E:\BlackBerry\documents
That will make a full backup into *.ipd file located at your memory card.
  • To make backup of some particular data - click on "Advanced" button and specify information to be saved. And after that transfer created ipd file to your memory card.

How do i transfer stuff from blackberry curve into the memory card

Open your media manager. Push menu button and select "explore".

Navigate through your device memory until you find the file you want to transfer. Highlight the file, push the menu button and select "move".

Navigate back up the file tree by selecting "up" until you see the memory card folder. Select the memory card folder, and choose the option to "put file here".

Keep in mind, you can not load programs from your memory card. You can only put files there (music, documents, ebooks, etc).

Formatting issue

The memory might be able to be saved. but if you have attempted to format it most likely the data is gone because that is what formating does. Now you can get an 8GB Micro SD for about 15$ so I would buy a couple and always back up important data daily. Thanks,
