I'd say 3 out of 4 people destroy the screen or the paper thin ribbons when trying to do this themselves...recycle the TV its junk now, for future reference if you havn't replaced a screen before don't try to do it. A new screen costs more than the cost of the set new

Yes, you can. But the cost of doing so is likely greater than the cost of a new television.

a cracked screen is not good. To replace the screen is not cost effective,UNLESS you can find a like model that doesn't work & the screen is known to be good. otherwise replace the unit.

It depends on the model---older rear projection sets maybe---newer LCD or Plasma---NO----cracked or damaged screen on those is the end as part costs are more than set was new.

It would be more cost effective to purchase a new set.

in general cracked lcd panels cost more than the tv is worth.. depending on model panel replacment run 1500 to 2000.. and physical damage is not a warrenty item. do you have a toshiba or a rca the decription says you have rca r52wm24 which is not a lcd. that is a tube tv. and if it is cracked that definatly can be fix or replaced cost effective.

There are a number of Toshiba parts supliers, but without the model number, I can not provide you with specifics. Can you please update this with the model number? Once I have that number, I can get you both the part number and cost.

There are two screens involved here, the protective screen (outer) and fresnel screen (inner). You do not indicate which is cracked. I have listed the part numbers and costs from tritrinincsinc.com below:

fresnel screen - part number 23430784 Cost: $133.01
protective screen - part number PS5001 Cost: $162.73 (no longer available)

You can check with local service centers for the protective screen as some may have one around in stock but it is no longer availabel from Toshiba.
