Question about Fuji FinePix S9500 Zoom Digital Camera

1 Answer

CAPACITY Problem I am using a 2GB Kingston CF card on my S9500, and at 5MP it can store up to 1000 pictures. Recently I had it formatted on a computer and when I inserted it back to my camera, the capacity went down to 590 pictures! i thought it caught a virus or something so I scanned it, then formatted it on the camera. but the display still says I got 590 shots left. so I reformatted it on another PC, and on Properties it says 0 usage so i'm positive there's nothing wrong with the card. Now, I have a brand new 1GB CF of the same brand, and when I inserted it on the camera same thing happened! 2GB, 1GB, diplay says I have 590 left. So now I took four shots, the display says I have now 586. I formatted the CF on the camera. Weird thing, it never went back to 590! Now I have 586 shots left no matter what the capacity of the card I put in. I checked and rechecked the settings, I'm afraid if I put it on 9MP max, i'd have lesser shots than 586. I'm baffled how'd this happen... Please help!

Make sure you're using a microSD card, 2GB and smaller, and not a higher-capacity microSDHC card.

How can you format a SD 4gb card for the Kodak EasyShare Z612 Digi Camera

You can't. The Z612 uses SD cards. Your 4GB card is actually an SDHC (Secure Digital High Capacity) card and is incompatible with SD devices.

For SD cards (2GB and smaller), you'll find the Format operation in the Setup menu. Press the Menu button, then use up/down to select the wrench, then press OK.

My 2 GB Kingston memory card is locked. how to open it?

You'll need to reformat the card in order to reset the flash memory.

This is fairly simple to do. Simply insert the card into your card slot and go into My Computer (or just Computer in your start menu, if you're using Windows Vista or 7).

Next, right click on the icon that represents your card (this will be easily recognizable by looking at the capacity of the drive, it should be around 1.6-1.8 GB) and select "Format...". Format your drive using the recommended settings (usually FAT32, Quick Format) and you should be able to access it.

New 4GB CF card for E5400, camera gives 'out of memory' message

So far as I am aware, the 5400 will support only up to 2GB cards. As to the firmware upgrade you mention, I don't recall that that has any bearing on the max. card capacity; but it's worth doing for the RAW format support (for me, at least). Cheers and good shooting. Davo, Tas.

KINGSTON 4GB MEMORY SD CARD

Check if your camera can support a 4G card. Some don't support than 2GB. if it supports, re-insert the card.
PS. If you have a card reader. Formatting once from your computer can help.

Exposure number in Canon does not change

Due to the age of the camera, the Ultra 2 CF card may be using a different architecture than your other CF cards. In other words, the card is incompatible with the camera.

One other problem may be that the camera is not designed to recognize a card which is of a larger capacity.

As I cannot find the 300D on Canon's site it is difficult to find exact specifications as to the abilities of the camera, as to what type of CF card it will accept, what the largest capacity it will accept, etc.

A more fixable problem would be either that the card is not formatted properly - which may be possible through the camera itself. Please try to navigate the camera's menu to find a format option. If not, you can insert it into a CF card reader and attempt formatting it that way. Please see Here for formatting through a camera.

Also, try Here for yet another possible explanation of your problem, as #6.

If the camera is meant to take the capacity and type of CF card, and is not damaged, the only other explanation is that it is write-protected. As I do not know the exact features of your CF card, I cannot say whether or not it has a manual write-protection switch. If it does, it would be a small sliding piece of plastic or metal on the side of the card which toggles the write-protection feature. It may also be write-protected as a file system, in which case you will need to format it.

If the card refuses to format due to a write-protection, you will need to remove the write-protection from the card first and then format it.

The following picture shows a CF card with a write-protection switch on the left hand side.

Thank you and take care,
- Dshack.
