Question about Acer Aspire 5100 Notebook

Screen is loose

The screen of my laptop is loose on the right hinge.  How do I tighten this?  Can't seem to find the screws; are they under the round rubber things(?) at the corners of the screen bezel?

There's no problem with the display.

Hello,

Hello,

My name is Vikram Kumar Thumu, from India-Hyderabad. I have seen your message on the issue related to  loose of screen on right hinge. I would like to provide my suggestions on the issue. I hope that this should work for you and will resolve the issue.

There are no troubleshooting steps are available for this issue. Since, it is not recommended user level steps. And the issue needs the assistance of Onsite technician. So I suggest you to visit any service center of Laptops, and get it solved as soon as possible. Moreover, currently, it is primary issue and not a major issue. Donot Prolong  the issue as it could effect the display, once if it effects the display then I am sure that the situation could turn worse and requires more than $300 to repair it. So it is better to get it solved now. I guess it would cost for you around $100 .

This should resolve the issue for you.

If you need any further assistance on the issue, you can mail me at thumuvikram@rediffmail.com . I'll be glad to help you.

Bye.

Loose hinges and screen trim comin off

screen trim should be able to be pressed together from front to back, loose hinges is caused by the screws at the hinges. you can pop the trim all the way off normally either by unscrewing the screws or in the case of most hp netbooks by simply applying some pressure between the 2 halves of the screen casing. i'd remove the front half and tighten the screws and then pop everything back together.

MBP screen hinge tightening

Hinges are located under the lcd screen and go into the bottom of the base or palmrest. You'll need to remove the strip that is right above the keyboard that normally houses the power button on most laptops. The strip might be secured by screws that are on the bottom of the laptop. Be careful removing the strip, most times there is a cable attached to it under the bottom. Once the strip is removed the hinges are exposed. Just take a phillips head screw driver and tighten them.

My screen is loose, i would like to know how to tighten the screen..

You can take the laptop apart, and try to tighten the screws of the hinge. But i think the hinge is worn. You can try if the warranty covers it.

Good luck, and i hope this was helpful ;)

Laptop hinges are loose

The hinges can be loose in two different areas, but the most popular is the hinge attachment point behind the screen bezel. Remove the rubber screw covers from the bezel, remove the screws, take your finger nailas and from the inside of the bezel pull gently to the outside to release the catches on the screen lid. Start on one side and work your way around the screen until the bezel pops loose. Look at the bottom of the screen and you will see the hinge attachment points. Tighten them up. If you have some locktite this would be a good time to apply it, remove the screws one at a time and replace. To replace the bezel, always start at the bottom and work your way up.

HP DV9000 My laptop screen is loose i would

When the laptop is flipped over, remove the battery. Under the battery there are 6 screws placed in pairs, these have to be removed. Once these are removed, the speaker and power strip can be pryed up, start with your finger nails on the right side and pop it off. Be careful with the flat cable in the middle of the strip. Tighten the screws for the display there and I think there are some that tighten from the bottom. Also, remove the rubber pads from the screen bezel and remove the screws from the screen bezel, then pry the bezel off at a corner and work your way around the bezel until it is removed. It will somply snap back on when you are finished. Tighten all the screws you see that connect to the hinges, this is wher the screen loosens alot. Just pay attention to the wires that feed through the bezel from the screen to the motherboard. Take your time, nothing to it.

If the lid has a small slack and then is firmer again when the lid/screen is in another position, then the hinge mounting screws is most likely loose and the mounting screws needs to be tighten.
If the hinges are loose no matter what the position of the lid/screen is in then, they need to be replaced, there is no adjustment to tighten the hinges.
