you don;t use a button to download anything.
everything is done within the window of itunes, your iPod will hook up to itunes and show do not disconnect on the screen.
with itunes you can either sync your ipod automatically or manage your music manually.
on the itune screen when your ipod shows up, you will see a window that shows a picture of an ipod and the ipod name next to it. if you uncheck automatically sync ipod which is a check box below the ipod name you can load your music manually.
To load music manually, on the left column that is shaded blue, you will see three sections, the middle section is your ipod and it's contents. click on music and the large white window to the right will show what songs you have on your ipod.
now, listen carefully, from your computer, open the folder that has your music files in it and keep it open in front of your itines. On itunes in the large white area, there are columns, the first row in the column is where to drag and drop your music to. So take a song in your music folder, left click and hold and drag it over to the first white column. hold it til you see the edge of the large white area turn blue and drop it.
the song will automatically be loaded on your ipod.
You can also drag and drop numerous song by clicking the top song, go down as many song as u want and press the SHIFT key on the keyboard and click the last song to load.this will highlight all songs in that group. then left click and hold, drag to the first column and drop when the outer edge turns blue.
Now i hope you can figure this out and get some music on your ipod.
    Good Luck

Catastrophe. A corrupted mp3 caused my Ipod to dump all files and now Itunes cannot read it to do a restore. Is there anything else I can do?.

Are you sure this was a corrupt MP3 that went on to the iPod, rather than an MP3 that the iPod itself corrupted?

Maybe as a result of a dying hard disk?
