Acer aspire one charging port loose

If I recall this model line uses a fixed DC power jack directly soldered to the main board. When they become loose, you can visually inspect the jack itself (without the cord plugged in), and use a pen or probe to see of the center peg is excessively loose. The common result is the solder connections have been broken between the DC jack and the main board. Often the jack itself needs to be replaced (involving complete disassemble, de-soldering old jack, cleaning, repair PCB if needed, and re-solder new jack in place.
TIP - if it is not charging, remove battery, and gently put pressure from different angles with the power cord plugged in, and try to turn it on. If it turns on with pressure from a specific angle, it would indicate the DC jack is indeed loose, and likely needs to be replaced. It works becomes the pressure is making the electrical contact that has other wise been broken. ALSO, if it turns on easily, yet losses power at certain angles, its a similar issue.
TIP2 - If it still indeed charges regardless of the angle, and does not lose power, it may be a "Modular" DC jack, meaning the jack connects to the main board through a wire harness, and is less prone to breaking the electrical contacts, and the jack is simply loose inside it's retaining clips/slides. Minor disassembly and hot glue are quick fixes for this since usually the plastic clip/slide in the chassis have broke.

GOOD LUCK! :)

I have XPS M1530 DELL Laptop. DC JACK(power charging port has broken from mother with a very small piece of mother board)....I had tried to call customer care ..he told you should change the motherboard...

If this motherboard is a multi-layer motherboard then it is impossible to repair.
You can try to repair the motherboard by glueing the broken piece onto the motherboard with epoxy glue. Then identify the broken power circuit tracks between both parts of the circuit board, and then solder wires across these tracks or to the closest solder connections to re-establish the electrical connections on the motherboard.
If this does not fix the problem then most likely it is a multi-layer motherboard and you cannot bridge the internal connection inside the motherboard.

I need hp pavilion dv7 1240us motherboard power problem solution..i have allready check dc jack, battery, power cord..and i soldring dc jack, battery jack..please some body help me... plz give me this...

I am not exactly sure what is the problem. Are you certain it is a power problem with the mother board? It could also be damaged or non functional.
Here's a troubleshooting guide from HP that might help you.
and the product's manual:

Battery not charging !!!. replacement of new batter also has the same problem. and old batter suddenly started charging by meddling with the cable for once. and then again the same problem. would it be...

Looks like either the power jack of your adapter is experiencing a bad connection. Check if the power adapter's cable near the jack which plugs into the laptop is not severely bent.If this is the case, then you will need to replace the power adapter.

If this is not the case, check the DC socket where you plug the power jack into the laptop. This socket might be loose or broken. If this turns out to be the case, then your laptop needs to be disassembled in order to re-solder or replace this socket, depending on its condition.

Your problem most likely lies wih the laptop power connector, the power cord connector is not making firm contact, that is why when you jiggle it connects. It might be the cord, you can check it by connecting it to another laptop exactly like yours and see if this plays up on that laptop, if it does then it is most likely the cord/power adapter. Don't connect it to a different brand name laptop, different brands use different voltages.

To replace the power connector on the laptop could be expensive unless you do it yourself, the laptop would need to be completely dismantled to get to the connector. Get a quote, they may charge for a quote, unless you accept the quote which may then be offset against the cost of the repair.

I recommend if the laptop is more than 3 to 4 years old, I would not repair it, put some blue tack around the connector to make the connection secure/firm, and put the repair costs towards a new laptop.

DEAD DELL

Replace the DC Jack, the battery will may charge if it doesn't get power from Positive and Negative. On that particular model it is usually the positve terminal. Insufficicent solder at production time causes a weak joint, repeated plugging in weakens the joint even further until it breaks the connection. If you have not damaged the jack badly, you may be able to get by with a simple 'reflow' of the solder. Use flux paste and add about 1 drop of solder to the terminals. Being careful not to short POS & NEG. (the contact pads are very close- use magnifying glass to verify)

Most likely the burning smell was the solder arcing around a poor solder connection.

I would suggest verifying DC jack before spending good money on a battery, since most LI-ION batteries are good for upto a thousand charges plus...
