The unit is a grundig amira 30LW 76-9401 LCD TV
display. If you power up the unit it initially is on
standby. Selecting a channel powers up the unit and the
display comes up with the display ok then a few second later the
display goes blank but the spound is ok. Selecting different
channels from the control unit changes the channel and sound of course
but screen remains blank. Turning off the unit a number of times
eventually clears the problem and the screen remains active. Have
used different inputs but makes no difference. Once the unit
poweres up correctly it will run ok until turned off and then the
problem reappears on the next power up.

Its the clear problem of short circuit.i will explain.in the tv on the main board there is a component which is getting short.actually when you ON the unit.it shows display.but as soon as it gets overheated the circuit gets cut and the part shorts.the display vanishes. as you will think that how in such a less time components gets overheated.i will explain.as which part is short .from that part when the current passes at time it cannot go further because it gets short .due to that current getting halted at the same part and not moving further the component gets over heated. as per me its not at all the costly issue to get solved.but its bit tough to find the faulty component from the circuit board.because there are hundreds of such component.now which is faulty can only be located with the help of multimeter.so i will suggest you get it repaired by a local electronic tv repair shop.asmostly 1 or 2 capacitors are getting short.the cost of each faulty part is not more then 5$.plus the service charge of the repair technician.so its worth getting it repaired.it will work properly. this will help you. please do rate the solution.thank you for using fixya.keep updated.

First of all what is the make and model of the unit and how long have you owned it. The tv stays on but the video is gone? Have you tried different inputs or different sources, like dvd player etc. Does the menu or anything come up? Once I have more information I can assist you further. Please don't request more assistance until I get a chance to do so.  Thank you,
Lee

Screen goes blank when first turned on, have to keep restarting m

Hello,

If you turn the monitor off then about 1020 sec turn it back on and have a picture for five sec again it sound like the power supply in the monitor. but if that did not solve the problem, the picture board on your monitor is bad, since it goes off after few seconds and the power led or button is on, it means the picture board of your monitor has developed fault and will need to be replace.

I advice you replace the picture board on the screen of your monitor to solve the problem of the blank screen.

Take care.

Ive seen this on other monitors. Look for a 1 and 2. Some monitors do NOT auto detect a signal, and this one might not. Look for a way to set the monitor from Digital input to VGA input. Try that and see.

LCD monitor goes blank

It appears that the display resolution set in your display properties is out of the range that the LCD can display.

Try this.

Boot to the ENABLE VGA MODE by pressing F8 to get the Windows Boot Menu. If you can get to the desktop, then go to display properties, and see if you can change the resolution to higher settings and maintain video. (If the video blanks out, then it should revert to the previous setting in 15 seconds)
