First see if you are able to connect to the internet wired to the router,
-If you are able to connect using the wire connection then I suggest to turn off the wireless security settings for the time being and see what happens.

See if you are able to ping your router.
-Make sure that the TCP/IP settings are set to DHCP and make sure that it is getting an IP address and Default Gateway.

If you are able to ping the router then see if you are able to ping google by name and by IP. (An IP address for google, com is

If you are able to ping both then you should be able to access the internet.

If you are able to ping only the google's IP address then you have a DNS issue.
-See if you can set your DNS address manualy to and Ref:

If you are able to ping only google by name then see if you are able to access google by typing in the replied IP address in the address bar of your web browser on a computer that is working fine.

Is unable to connect

Type into your browser and then enter user "admin" for both the username and password. Go to Wireless/Wireless Security and enable the setting so it is unsecure. Now your computer will see the signal and allow you to connect

3 failed attempts to connect HP DV6t laptop

First as a test, turn off the wireless security, and see if the laptop can connect.

If it can connect with security turned off, then it is likely that you are making some type of mistake with the password. (Such as caps lock being on, or having a keyboard error.)

Good Luck!

Unable to connect to internet

The IP address you use with your browser is not to get into the Dlink WEB page, it is to get into the DLink router configuration, to set up the router and wireless security eg. network SSID, turn off SSID brocast, WEP/WAP encryption, MAC address filtering etc.

No access to web based utilty

Seems like you need to verify that the web management interface is at the address your specified or that your PC is indeed wirelessly connected to the CWR-854.

The following suggestions assume you use Windows XP as your OS:
  1. You need to connect to the CWR-854 via a network cable (one end connected to your PC the other to a LAN port on the CWR-854) initially.
  2. You can try to access the web management interface at the IP address you expect, i.e. or you can verify the IP address by finding the Default Gateway your PC is issued by the CWR-854 from:
  • Right clicking on the tray icon of the network connection, choose "Status" then click on the "Support" tab to see the Default Gateway.
  • OR click on "Start" then "Run...", type "cmd" then type "ipconfig" and read the Default Gateway value under the section for the "Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection".
Use the Default Gateway value as the new address to use for the web based utility if it differs from what you expected.

Could you please explain what kind of error message you face when trying to connect to this website? I have tried to connect to it and it seems to be a fairly simple website with not that much of 3rd party software needed to access it;s webpage. Certainly, more information is needed. Thank you.
