Question about HP Pavilion dv4000 Notebook
My HP dv4000 laptop will not turn on. Right before I left for school my old charger shorted out and so I purchased a new one. The new one was the only one i found for HP's but is recommended for the 4200. I used the new charger for a few days at school and again back home for a little while. After about 3 days, my laptop will not turn on what-so-ever. No sound, no blinking power light on the front, no nothing. I have tried switching outlets as well as letting the laptop sit for a few days, but no luck. I would really appreciate any help.
The only suggestion I can think of trying is to remove the battery and mains lead from the unit wait 5 mins then plug the mains in without the battery present. If the unit does not start after this then it's likely an issue with either the plug pack or the notebook motherboard. Try wobbling the connector going to the laptop and see if its a loose connector. Get the plug pack tested with a voltmeter to see that it's working.
Has the new plug pack got a removable end piece or is it hard soldered, if it's got a removable end piece has anyone accidently reversed this causing + to go to - or vice versa?
If the above tests don't prove positive then I'd say the unit will have to go in for service.
Hope this helps

When a battery will not start a vehicle, it tends to be in the circumstances most embarrassing and frustrating, a school run by a meeting or even work urgently. Call for help from vehicles is not always an option and even if it may take some time to arrive. Rather than leave it to chance, many drivers now carry 85wh apple A1172 Charger for use in such peril.
