65h84 toshiba wont power up after 30 min power outage.

Checked glass fuse, its ok. Pic attached. No sign of a burn and no fried circuit smell (I do computer/smartphone repair). Left unplugged over night and tried again. No dice. Listened for any noise from tv when its plugged in or power button is pressed. Nothing. Shes a good set and would love to fix her despite a throw away society. Ideas?

Hi Aaron,

please check power button,
bridge rectifire,
bleeder resistor or big cement resistor closed to power input area,
smoothing cap charged to 300v (i assume your power grid is 220v),
when you plugged in and it is not discharging for few min.that means power supply not starting up.
check the power supply bord for any phisical damage burn marks etc...please do the check and come back.
regards,
nuwan

SOURCE: Vertical Lines that occur for the first 5 min the tv is on

sounds like you have sa bad what is called the hypermodule. ideally the best coarse of action would be to replace this. but do to the fact it is a common problem these cuircit boards are hard to come by. Toshibia has told us service centers how to repair these boards which involves replaceing 11 micro caps very very small compnents that usally involve twezzers and magnifier. not for the do it yoursefer. you can easlly damage the board and if that happens that ends the tv right there. at my shope such a repair runs 250 with the parts and labor but it will depend on the shop it is rather labor intensive even to remove the board

SOURCE: I have a mitsubishi ws-65909. We had a power

I am a proud owner of the same TV you have. A couple of months ago, we had repeated, intentional rolling power outages in the Dallas area in an ice storm. I had the blinking green light of death also. The problem is in your DM module. If you remove the back panel on the set and expose the boards, the DM is the one farthest to the left. It is actually located inside a metal frame that surrounds it. You can disconnect the wiring harnesses coming out of it to the other boards. You may have to label the harnesses, but typically they are labeled so you can simply match the numbers of the harness removed to the receptacle into which it was originally plugged. There should be about 5 of these to remove. I recommend using needle-nose pliers, as they can be very hard to unplug. Just don't squeeze too hard and crack the plastic.
Once you have disconnected and removed the DM board assembly, you will need to remove the metal housing and disconnect another series of wiring terminals in order to fully expose the power boards within. Make sure you keep track of which screws go where, as some may be longer than others. Phone pics of wiring harnesses can come in handy so you remember where they go. After the metal housing is removed, you will see an elevated, smaller board attached to the much larger main board. The small PC board needs to be separated and removed so you can hold it in your hands and work on it. At this point, you have the option to take the board to an electronics repair shop or to fix the problem yourself (as I did) and save yourself some money. A decent repair shop should remove and replace the defective components for about $20, PARTS INCLUDED!. There are 7 capacitors that need to be replaced. They cost less than 50 cents apiece at an electronics parts supply shop. You may find them at RadioShack, but I recommend an electronics supply shop. This way you can buy capacitors that have a higher voltage rating than those originally installed. A higher voltage rating is recommended and will in no way affect performance or outcome. In fact, the original caps (capacitors) were rated too low in terms of both voltage and temperature. I believe the original caps were 1000 uf (microfarad), 16-volt caps which are black in color - indicating they are 85 degree compliant. Look for 1000 uf (microfarad) capacitors with a brown color that indicates they are better for high-temp applications of up to 105 degrees. You will be able to clearly see on the cap that it is 1000 uf, 25 v, 105 degrees C. One very important thing to note is that a defective cap isn't always obvious and will NOT always display symptoms of a bad cap. Typically a bad cap will have an outward bulge on the top, like a soda can about to explode. It may also show signs of dark, caramel or black colored syrup-like liquid oozing out of it. This should be considered, but definitely not ignored. When I fixed my set, ALL of the seven replaced caps actually looked like they were brand new and showed NO typical signs of fatigue or failure. I replaced all seven anyhow, put it all back together, and brought it back to life and saved myself many hundreds of dollars. The primary point I wish to relay is that you do not rely on the apparent physical appearance of the caps to decide their state. I hope this helps any and all with the symptoms related to the constant blinking green light which responds to nothing on the Mitsubishi WS -65909. You CAN save your TV by spending less than $75 by doing it yourself (less than $15 if you have a soldering iron and solder) or take it to a ****** who won't do component-level repairs and will just replace the whole DM board for 700 bucks or so. I know these sets are old and rapidly being replaced by LED, Plasma, and LCD sets, but you can't beat the pic for the price. If I get enough requests, I will figure out how to post a video how to to do the whole thing. I hope this helps. This will fix the constant blinking green light with no power-up on the Mitsubishi WS-65909 rear-projection TV!

A power surge zapped my TV, I turned it back on, it tried to bring up the picture but shut off again. A green light keeps blinking.

if a power surge shut down the unit than a circuit, capacitor or fuse is blown and or burnt and you wont smell that most of the time and since it does have power fuse wasnt blown so a circuit -diode-capacitor is fried somewhere problem is common for an electricial damaged tv but to diagnose an electronic tech would need to tear it apart

Had a power outage now the TV displays only a black screen, and doesn't respond to any remote functions except for power.

sounds like you may have also had a power spike and possibly fried the tv. have you tried unplugging the tv for about 30 mins and plugging it back in? some tv's have built in surge protectors that need to be re-set

No power light even though its connected to power outlet

Based on the limited info, it sounds like your receiver has a blown fuse, or other damaged component in the power circuit. Try unplugging the receiver from power, and let it sit overnight to be safe before opening it up. Look for any glass fuses, and test for its rated value. This could be a easy fix. Also look for signs of damage on the circuit board, such as burnt or charred components, or funny smell of burnt electrical components.
If this is above your skill level, seek a qualified repair shop. Most shops can diagnose in about 30 mins.

Good luck!

Netgear wireless router has no lights after power outage. Actually, the circuit breaker switch for the room the router is in, was accidentally flipped. The power light will not even come on. The device has...

On the router, you will see some sort of ventilation for the air to pass try smelling from there and if you smell anything the smells like burnt plastic or rubber then the device itself is burned from inside because of the power outage, however, this is extremely rare case scenario I doubt it will burn like that so easily, and do perform the same step on the power source adapter of the router because in many cases it is the power source that gets burn and not the device.
After that perform some troubleshooting steps check if the power chord connected to the router is properly connected also please check the power outlet with other electronic devices to see if the outlet is working.
I am not sure but I am assuming that it is the power adapter that got damage and not the router. Let me know if any issues.

We had a power outage - the computer was on a circuit breaker outlet. The other computer came back on, but the one with the siverstone power supply will not start up

Hmmm, First of all check the fuses if any that may have burned out due to the power outage. If this doesnt help. Open up the power supply and smell it for any burned out parts. If you can smell the scent of burned electrical parts then you should replace the power supply. It should solve your problem. Also check the motherboard for any anomalies.

We have a rear projection tv that has no sound or picture after a power outage??

Suggest unplugging for 15-30 min to allow capacitors inside to discharge and reset and systems from the outage. Then plug in and see. It could be the power supply or a burned out bulb from the quick pulse of loss of power also.

Toshiba 32A33 After a power spike

The main power fuse inside the TV may have blown. The rear cover must be removed to check it. Unplugging the power cord from the wall outlet is the first safety item. Finding all the right screws to remove the cover (without taking out some you shouldn't) is sometimes tricky. When you remove the cover the power cord will still be attached inside, so remove the cover carefully. There is a danger of touching residual high voltage near the picture tube. Carefully look for a fuse near where the power cord attaches to the circuit boards. Often the fuse will be obviously burned open (the small conductor inside the clear glass is melted or the glass is blackened). Replace only with a fuse of the same type and amp rating. Putting a higher amp rating fuse or slower acting fuse can have costly and possibly dangerous consequences. Be sure to plug the power cord in when you do your test with the new fuse. If you haven't done anything close to this before, you may want to refer this job to an expert.

sounds like the motor is fried or seized up, which would explain that smell.
