it will do everything with the door open . i have to press the pause button for it to stop running any cycle even when it was working properly . i have tested the pump with a multi meter and it had a very low ohms reading of around 17 and what i have read on the net is that it should be around 40 ohms does that sound right to you ? ill test the pressure switch today and see how it goes thanks for all your help .

Chances are, your water switch is stuck..
its the thing inside the dishwashe that kinda looks like a plastic mushroom.. (its a float)
sometimes they get corroded with excess detergent.. wiggle that up and down some to free up the float and it just might fix your problem.

if it drains water immidiatly, it still seems like it is the overfill safety kicking on. the pressure switch is reading that the dishwasher is full or over full, and is trying to evacuate the water before beginning cycle..
If you blew into the switch and heard the "click" generally it is good.. the best way to surly test it is with a multi meter or a test light. that would be theonly way to be certain that the contacts are in contact.
If you pressure switch is good.. I would say it is the control board.
does it keep draining with the door open? or does it stop functioning when door is opened?

You say it doesn't fill.
The pump has nothing to do with filling.
Solenoid switch on end of inlet hose lets water in from the mains.
So first check if you have water in the hose, then check if the solenoid triggers (a faint click when power comes on, or better to check with multimeter) then check other sensors faulty as listed previously

Dishwasher wont fill up with water

When you start the dishwasher you have probably noticed that it first drains water and is very important to hear that drain pump running all the time or stops after a while? Why?
If the drain pump runs constantly then the fault is in the phase of "drain water" or is activated anti-flood system. Reset point of pressostat is not reached after max. 120secs. Programme stop and can be continued after error remedy by pressing the programme key.

If the pump is running for a while and then stops, then the fault is in phase "fill up water". Switchpoint of pressostat is not reached
after max. 60 secs.

Usually built-in dishwashers has anti-flood system that responds in the event of water in the bottom of the dishwasher. Such a case, find and repair water leaks.

My husband installed our dishwasher a Westinghouse 905 and it fills with water but then floods our kitchen!! If we turn it off it drains out properly so we are not sure what to do next. Any help would be...

Hello!
"floods the kitchen"... do you mean it overfills, or that it fills, the water valve shuts off, and then while running it leaks out?
Perhaps the water level control float that is on the inside of the machine is stuck or there is packing material inside it for shipping???
The float valve would be on the bottom of the tub and probably looks about the size of a hockey puck and has to move freely up and down to detect the level of water. If the water level were to get too high, the valve will float up and release a micro switch that it controls with a little shaft that runs down through a small opening in the bottom of the tub.
Check to see that it moves freely up and down... you likely will be able to hear a bit of a "click" of a micro switch.
If the float was stuck, it probably is safe to try to run the dishwasher again... but stand by just in case !!!!
Hope this was the problem and now it works !!!

THE TUB OF THE WASHER GETS REALLY LOW WHEN IS FILLED WITH WATER. NOW, ALSO THE WATER DOSENT COME IN WHEN I TURN IT ON

All top suspend tub washers drop down when they fill with water. And they rise again when they have pumped the water out. This is normal.
What is not normal is water not coming in.'

check following:
Water is turned on
Remove inlet hose and run water to see if it is blocked.
Clean the inlet filters.
If you hear a buzz but no water goes in the inlet valve needs replacing.
If yu use only cold water try swapping the cold hose onto the Hot inlet. Then select Warm Wash.
Then only turn on the Cold Tap.
This will allow you to fill the machine and do a wash.
Watch out though when it comes to the Rinse position......some machines only do a cold rinse, and because you have swapped the hose over to hot it will not fill to rinse the clothes. Until you can get a Tech to do the repair you can just use either a bucket to add cold water for the rinse or use the garden hose to fill the tub with cold water for the rinse.
Have yu got all that?

MDB5600AWQ Will not drain

yep first disconnect the drain hose from the sink drain then get a mop bucket shut the door and start the dishwasher the fist thing a dishwasher does when you start it is drain before it fills hold the bucket under the sink and loop the hose up and like its connected and see if it drains if it does then check the sink connection for an obstruction if not pull the bottom kickplate you will find a tech sheet there that will be help full also look to the left hand side and you will see a small drain pump make sure the wires are hooked up you should hear the pump running when you first start the dishwasher before it fills after the pump stops running open the door and turn it off if the pump is running and no or very little water is coming out of the hose then you will have to remove the pump and check to see if something is jamming the impeller reply to me if you need to and we will take it from there ok

Water problem

Many dishwashers will drain at the beginning of any cycle.
If the water does not fill after the pump-out cycle, then the problem is either the fill valve or the float switch. You should be able to hear the float switch click as you raise or lower it. The fill valve usually hums whenever it has power.
If the fill valve has power but doesn't open, (use a voltmeter) replace the fill valve. If there is no power at the float switch, nor at the fill valve after pumping out, then the clock / timer is at fault.

Won't drain

The drian could be plugged or the pump could have an obstruction. Did you just install a garbage disposer? If you did you may need to knock out the plug in the disposer. Hope this helps
