I am using Kaspersky Internet Security 2009. But it blocks all the forwarded ports of my router (usr 9108). Everything worked fine before I installed Kaspersky. I need to do port forwarding in order to use Bittorrent. Please help me. thank you.

Why can't I print on cloud print with my canon inkjet mp830. It keeps saying "printer offline"

Hi, you may find that opening port 5222 in your router settings corrects this for you. This is due to Google Cloud Print (GCP) needing to poll your printer, if the port is not open then GCP will not get a response from your printer, therefore will show it as offline.

It is also possible that your firewall is blocking communications so you would need to open the same port (5222) in your firewall / antivirus software.

Warning: Ports are often closed on a router to help prevent unauthorized access to your home network. Opening any additional ports on your router may decrease the overall security of your network.

  1. To use port forwarding first determine the local IP address of the computer or device you are forwarding the port to.
  2. Open your router configuration / settings menu.
  3. Once in the router configuration locate the port forwarding settings, often in a section such as Applications & Gaming or Port forwarding. I would suggest that if you are having difficulties with this to refer to your router documentation or call their support line.
  4. You will only need to open port 5222.
  5. Give your new rule a name that you will recognise.
  6. Next enter the port number 5222, if you are asked for Externet and Internet enter 5222 in both.
  7. The protocol is TCP.
  8. Next is the IP address of the computer.
  9. Don't forget to check the enabled box if there is one and save changes.
If you have any issues with this I would suggest Port Forward web site where specific instructions should be available for your router.

Port forwarding

Connect your Internet phone directly to the cable modem and see if you can use Internet phone directly through the modem.
If it works through the modem then it must be the issue with the port forwarding.
First get the port numbers from the phone manufacturer.
Open the setup page of the router and open those port numbers.

Port forwarding with DIR-625 (wireless environment)

Does your modem has a NAT too? if not then upgrade the firmware of the router that usually fix the problem, if not then ask your ISP and see if they are blocking the ports. have you tried connection without the router to see if that will work?

How To Make a DMZ

A router normally stops incoming Internet traffic from getting on your network, unless the traffic is in response to one of your computers or when using port forwarding. But instead of discarding the incoming traffic or using port forwarding, you can send incoming traffic to one computer on your network by establishing a "Default DMZ Server". (DMZ = humorous reference to "Demilitarized Zone".) This avoids you having to figure out what ports an Internet application wants ? by throwing all ports open for that computer. For regular network operation, NETGEAR recommends you do not use a DMZ. A computer with DMZ loses firewall protection, and is exposed to exploits from the Internet. If compromised, your own computer can attack the rest your network. Instead of DMZ, use port forwarding, as described in How is Port Forwarding Configured? However, the DMZ server feature is helpful: * When you have a problem connecting to an Internet service. Setting up a DMZ will determine whether a closed port is responsible for the problem. * With some online games and videoconferencing applications that are incompatible with NAT. Follow the procedure under your router model to create a DMZ To Create a DMZ for RP614, MR814, FVS318, FVM318, WGR614 1.
