In Device Manager, is there a yellow question mark item that says something like "PCI Device"? If so, that could be your wireless and you've lost the drivers.

Okay - right click on the "PCI Modem" and select "Update Driver" - and reinstall the Wireless Driver. If that doesn't work, use the Windows Restore function to roll the system back to the last time the wireless worked. If that doesn't fix it, then the wireless function has probably died. You'll need to get a wireless network PCMCIA card for your laptop and use that to connect.

I cannot connect to my wireless network ( I can connect ONLY by wire) and my Internet provider suggested me to try and find a new driver. Can you find one and notify me?

Hi,

I think it would be better if you check first the Switch of your wireless and see if its turn ON. If happens that the switch is ON, you have to check the Device Manager on your machine and see if the wireless card is listed under Network Adapter. Here's how you can check the wireless card.

Windows 7 and Windows Vista

Start->Control Panel->Hardware and Sound->Device Manager (in Category View)

Start->Control Panel->Device Manager (in Large or Small Icon View and for Vista Classic View)

Windows XP
Start->Right Click on My Computer->Properties(it will open a window)->Click Hardware->Device Manager

Under Device Manager just double click on the Network Adapter and it should give you list, just check if your Wireless Card is listed, if its not most likely the card is not working or faulty. It would be better to call the manufacturer for more assistance.

D-link wireless has stopped working

Hi Friend,

i just know the model of your router - and answering your question is a little tuff with less info..
> Check if you are able to access internet through wired
> Check if your computer has a wireless card
> Check if the card is installed - under the hardware -> Device Manager (assuming to be a windows computer)
> Install the drivers if you find any errors for the adapter under device manager
and try to search for wireless signals..

This should help you

Cant get the 5100 to connect to the internet.

Can you be more specific please ? i.e, is it the first time you have tried (new laptop) or has this problem just started (new wireless software added recently??) .. I do remember an old problem on acer's a couple of years back they had a power saving option on the wireless adapter that would turn itself to maximum by default. You could try this as a possible quick fix or give me some more info and I will try to help: right click my computer / properties / hardware tab / device manager… then find your wireless adapter in the list under Network Adapters, right click / properties / advanced tab. Select Power Save Mode from the list on the left and select Off from the drop down on the right. Press OK and close device manager.
Let me know how you get on, but with more info I might be able to help

Wireless networking hardware not functioning properly.

Check on Device Manager if it is working properly

Right-click My Computer-Properties-Hardware-Device Manager
Click on the plus sign beside Network Adapter and double-click your wireless card.
Check on the device status if it says it's working properly.
Try to disable-enable the adapter by right-clicking on it under the device manager window.
If it has a question mark, it is most likely driver issues so contact your wireless card manufacturer or PC manufacturer if the wireless card is built in.

Wireless connection disapeared from computer

Hello!

I am not sure exactly where you are checking for Wireless connections.

Anyhow, now a days we are hearing many Wireless adapter missing from Device manager issues.

Please get back to us with the Brand name of your laptop, OS installed.

Also check in Device manager for Wireless adapter.

Please follow these steps to open Device Manager:

1. Right Click on 'My Computer' icon on Desktop and choose Properties.
2. The System properties Window opens.
3. Click Hardware tab and then click the Device Manager button.

Expand + Network adapter and check if the Wireless adapter is listed there or not.

If it is not listed there, then the issue is with the Wireless adapter itself.

This is most comon issue in HP COMPAQ notebooks.

if you are not aware of the Wireless adapter under + Network adapters in Device manager, then get back to us with the complete information under + Network adapter.

So thatI can help you in better way

Have you verified the wireless card that is in the machine? (Are you certain there is one there?) Even if there is one inside it, the PC may not see it. Go to device manager (My Computer, Properties, Hardware tab, Device Manager button). Then look through the list to find "Network adapters", click the "+" to the left, and it will display a list of adapters present in the machine. Make sure there are no yellow caution symbols or other error icons in any area.

Then, if you can see a wireless card listed, right-click to view the properties. Please post back with the results, and the exact info regarding your PC and the wireless card if you need more help. Otherwise, thank you for using and rating FixYa!
