Startup error problem 339

I have an acer aspire1. with the operating system windows XP. i installed a program and when the program starts a window pops up and says Startup Main: 339-component 'softlocx3.ocx' or one of it's dependencies not corrently registered: a file is missing or invalid application will shut down. i tried clicking run and typing msconfig and then disable and apply and letting the computer restart but when it did and i tried to open the program again the message poped up again. so i did the same thing and ennabled it again.

It sounds to me like you've had a bad install. What program did you install?

Hi

If you can access your data save it, and then re-install windows and the drivers it is the only way to restore your pc or laptop

Cheers

The program is either not compatible or corrupt.

Runtime errors Some applications may be causing a conflict. Many times runtime errors are a result of incompatibility between two or more programs. Press the "Ctrl," "Alt" and "Delete" keys simultaneously to open Windows Task Manager. From the "Applications" tab, close each open application until the runtime error is resolved. Check for patches, bug fixes or upgrades by visiting the manufacturer's website. Search for your product and determine whether there are downloads to fix the problem your PC is experiencing. When none of the above fixes help, reinstall the troubling program. In severe cases, you may need to reinstall your operating system. Make sure that you back up the other programs and files you want to preserve, which may be erased during the re-installation. Hope this helps.

Msvcrt.dll error message(Msvcrt.dll error message("the procedure entry except handler4 common could not be located dinamic link library msvcrt.dll")

Two possible solutions.
Roll back system with System Restore. Win 7 - Start > Search type System Restore. XP - Is Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Restore. Now choose a date prior to problem. You may have to try a few dates.

Try disabling startup programs. Go to Start > Run (search in Win 7) and type MSConfig. In Startup tab, uncheck anything that you don't want Windows to load automatically. It will make Windows boot faster and use less resources while running. This just disables them in startup. Programs will still load, but when only you initiate.

Error: GetFileText. BrowseIt. Permission Denied is popping up constantly

Let's put the computer in clean boot state and check if any third-party program is causing this issue.
Putting your system in clean boot state helps in identifying if any third party applications or startup items are causing the issue. If yes, you may have to contact the program manufacturer for any updates or uninstall and re-install the program.
Here's the article you may refer to for steps with reference to the same.

Use this link if you are using Windows XP:
How to configure Windows XP to start in a "clean boot" state
Note: After troubleshooting, make sure to put the computer to start as usual as mentioned here:
To configure Windows to use a Normal startup state
After you used the clean boot to resolve your problem, you can follow these steps to configure Windows XP to start normally.

a. Click Start, and then click Run.
b. Type msconfig, and then click OK. The System Configuration Utility dialog box is displayed.
c. Click the General tab, click Normal Startup - load all device drivers and services, and then click OK.
d. When you are prompted, click Restart to restart the computer.

Instead of re-installing the Operating System you can do an Operating System repair. Boot to the Windows Operating System installer disc,. If you have XP, boot to the XP installer disc then enter the setup program. There will be an option that says "Press R to Repair Computer". Press letter R then let the setup finish. For Vista/7, boot to the installed disc then select "Startup Repair" This will repair all corrupted Windows file and will keep your data intact,

Hope this help.

NTLDR is missing is displayed when i turn on the computer

The "NTLDR is missing", error displays very shortly after the computer is first started; after the Power On Self Test (POST) is complete. Windows XP might only initially load when the NTLDR error message appears. Causes of this error message include corrupt and misconfigured files, hard drive and operating system upgrade issues, corrupt hard drive sectors, an outdated BIOS, and damaged or loose IDE cables.

One of the drivers or programs that is set to launch during boot is corrupted. You will have to find out which and uninstall / upgrade it.
Boot in Safe Mode, click Start, Click Run and type msconfig and hit enter - the startup management window will launch. Click on the Startup tab and untick all the programs in there. Now reboot. If you get the same error then the problem is with a driver - uninstall them all then download the latest versions from the Acer Support site and install them one by one. If the problem is fixed then one of the programs is corrupted - open msconfig / Startup again and tick one program at a time with reboot until the problem returns: uninstal that program.

Sounds like you are running out of ram for the program. Try upgrading to some more ram in your system. Windows xp recommends minimum 512k of memory to run.

Startup main error problem

Depending on the operating system your running, click on the start button in the bottom left or the vista icon, then either click on "RUN" or in the search box type MSCONFIG and press enter.

Click on the startup tab and then clickon the disable all button. Then click on apply and then okay and then let the computer restart.

After it restarts if the error message stops appearing then you know its something that is starting up when windows boots.

Go back into msconfig and then you can enable any of the programs that you want to startup instead of the ones that you don't.

Start up problem

It appears that Service Pack 2 did not completely install. Try to boot into safe mode (F8 at startup). If you can, go to control panel, then add/remove programs. Scroll all the way down, select Windows XP Service Pack 2 and click "remove".

After it's removed, you will need to reboot, but the system should come up normally after that.

Hope this helps - please remember to rate :)
