There must be another type of problem here.
Windows XP needs no additional software to read a camera.
This is seen as an external removeable drive.
Ensure the camera is plugged in correctly and set to upload.
Make sure there is a card in the camera with images.
If the camera has an internal memory read the manual on how this may have to transfer to a card
Windows should then put up the scanner/Camera Wizard, asking what to do- Read images from the folder is the item to select.
Come back if still in trouble.
