It has a cicuit board that controls all functions! needs to be replaced1....I would recomend a new one(oven) by the time you pay for the circuit board and the hassle of taking the old one apart! but repair is possible! parts easily availible on the internet

Oven will not ignite, it is approx. 8 yrs old. 2 years ago the ignitor was changed for a similar problem. Everything works on stove even the broiler. Very dissapointed in the GE profile since I have had...

Jim your ignitor has gone bad once again.
You can turn off the gas supply, remove the oven racks, remove the oven base pan, remove the flame spreader to access the ignitor.
Place a clamp on amp meter over one wire of the ignitor and turn the control on for bake. If the ignitor does not glow at all. It is bad. If it glows and reads 3 amps or less on the amp meter it is still bad.
A proper functioning ignitor will light and re-light the burner in 45 seconds or less.

cheapest attempt would be replacing temp. sensor....other component if still not functioning, would be the main computer board, which can be very pricey

My GE oven heating element heats red hot no matter what temp I put the oven on

Something is probobly wrong with the thermostat, it gets hot to warm up, but should lessen as it reaches your desired temp. If the thermostat is bad it will just keep going.

Look for a microswitch connected to the lock mechanism at the back of the stove. The switch is probably broken.
