The "slaps" did not work. The model number is Sony Handycam HDR-HC3E

  • maata3 May 25, 2009

Unfortunately it is not possible to remove the cassette. The mechanism opening the cover lifts the cassette upwards, however it does not open outwards to allow removal and the reinsertion of the cassette.

  • maata3 May 25, 2009

I do not know if you received my last reply where I advised the cassette could not be removed and reinserted. When cover is opened the mechanism raises the cassette , however it does not open to allow removal and subsequent reinsertion.

Before I contacted you I had read the manual, the trouble shooting section and particularly Self - diagnosis/Warning indicators relating to the message C31:30. However, I cannot remove the cassette.

Hi

You can follow the "give it a bang" theory and this should work. Procedure is open palm of hand and give it a good knock, after each knock rotate it about 90 degrees. You can knock each side of the camera with open palm a couple of times and it will work. If still it does not work then please tell me the model no .

Please do accept this solution and revert for further assitance.

Thanks

    Hi

Thanks for replying. Now please remove and insert the cassette, then operate your camcorder again. Do not perform this procedure if moisture, condensation has occurred. Also you can remove the power source and reconnect it then operate the camcorder again. The best thing would be to press RESET to initialize all the settings.

Please do accept the solution and revert for further assistance.

    Thanks

Trust me the only Prcedure now is open palm of hand and give it a good knock, after each knock rotate it about 90 degrees. You can knock each side of the camera with open palm a couple of times and it should work else you need to go to nearest service center.

Please do accept this solution and revert for further assitance.

    Thanks

Reinsert cassette message

Believe it or not, after having the same problem "re-insert cassette" and "reattach power source", and after talking to Sony and them telling me it would be $111.00 to repair, I hit mine with the palm of my hand twice on each side and twice on the back by the battery and it actually worked--haha Go Figure!!

I get an eject symbol and beep and error code c32:11, original issue was that it ate a tape

Hi,
The error C 32:11 denotes for mechanical unsuitability, This problem appears when the improper insertion of the cassette been done, or lose cassette tape stuck,
In all these situations mechanical adjustment is required, You are suggested to please contact any expert for the mechanical adjustment.
Hope you will understand my sayings.
Thanks for using fixya.

Reinsert the cassette

I had the same problem and had to leave my camera in for service twice, although I am not using it that much. In the end, they told me they had to change the "head" which cost me about 100euros. If it happens again, I think I will throw the camera in the bin!

"Reinsert the Cassette"

If the warranty is no longer valid, try to identify what part of the camera is being scraped, then gently bend it back into place. There are a lot of thin metal shields inside the camera that could easily have been dented. I would strongly suggest a repair, as it is a very simple problem that can be easily fixed by moderately skilled hands.

Usually when I got that error message, I would take out the cassette, close it up, take off the battery, and smack it really hard a couple of times. It sounds odd, but it comes from a sony technician. It's the perfect temporary fix.
