Gateway MA7 black screen, no bios

I have a 3-4yr old gateway MA7 Model MT6821. No problems until today. I get a full black screen with nothing deep inside (So not a lamp issue). I have plugged a seperate screen into the laptop, and still no info is shown when I press Fn+F4. When I boot up, the fan runs but nothing more. I am left with a steady blue light on the front of the laptop and power light is blue. I have tried to boot from a windows CD, but nothing comes up and no different sounds excpet the loading of the CD and some spinning, but no full loading. I removed HD and RAM cards, still boots to no BIOS. just black screen. I can only assume motherboard failure. Any other ideas?

Thanks, but even with no hard drive and no RAM, I should get the start up BIOS, that is direct from the motherboard processor.

ok, I swapped out the hard drive, and still the same issue. Any other ideas? Time to throw it away!

its your graphics card and unfortunately its soldered on to the motherboard so you have to replace the motherboard

Take out the hard drive, take out the dvd drive. If you still don't get any video, try another stick of RAM and if that still doesn't work, then the motherboard is definitely bad at that point.

There is just one solution to replace the southbridge please pay attention on welding under bga station short prifile and leaded up to 220C not more.
this chip fail so often same chip has fujitsu siemens they put a little rubber top on the cooling pad and the cooling pat is double side sticker with bad thermal transfer.or toshiba a200 old model not the new ish
on old one same chip has alu plate again silly design not enough to cool down the chip.we live in world with full of cheap nasty brands they dont want to spend money on better design and again the people accept chep nasty stuff.
if these gpus and cpus gonna be on socket the fail gonna be less than now.
in 2013 almost all companies using bga instead of socket silly.
we r packing up the world with eco laptops without lead then we are not realising we making more rubbish yes rubbish green friendly ROHS.
well done :-)

I would steer towards the hard drive. can either wipe it,reformat ie and put windows back on it or get a new one. Try E-bay for one.

I'm telling You it's the hard drive because the same thing happened to Me on one My dell 4550. I replaced the hard drive and it worked just fine. Everybody usually assumes it is the motherboard but the hard drive can be just as bad.
