Very carefully as we discussed in our expert forums this takes skill and it takes the right equipment as you can burn the thrid layer board and you will be without a TV. First you need a 40 watt iron, 60/40 rson core solder/you need wicking wire/ heat sink and a whole lot of experience. check this website www.badcaps.com even know he works on motherboards for computers this guy gives you tips I would follow them and heed to them if I where you!! Good luck with your repair!

My Polaroid TV is about 3 y/o and it was on for 30 and just went pop and the screen turned black and the red light in the corner. Does this mean my TV's blew?

That pop was a "button" surface mounted circuit board capacitor blowing up, inspect the main board first and look for burn mark in the board.

Polaroid tv doesn't turn on

I have the same problem with a 37" Polaroid LCD... through some thorough research i discovered that it is a possible 3 things;
1: Blown Capacitors on the power board; Look for domed heads on capicitors
2: A Faulty AV board; I'm unaware on how to test this at present!
3: Faulty T-Con Board; Disconnect the AC power cord from the TV.

Disconnect one end of the LVDS cable that goes between the main board,
and the timing controller (TCON) board.

Connect the AC power cord to the TV and press the power button.

If the screen lights up dimly, then you have a defective TCON board.

If the symptoms didn't change, then you have either a defective main board or
power board (you should get them both, replace them one-at-a-time,
and send back the one you don't need). There are tuition video's for t-con and capacitors replacement on youtube

How to fix blue screen problem on polaroid tla01511c

Hello!
If you do have only "blue screen" on your set, it could be caused by 2 separate issues: 1. if your TV glows blue, without "polaroid" logo at the start up, problem is t-con board(display controller).
2. if TV start up normally, with "polaroid" logo, then stays bright and blue, the issue is: multiple electrolytic capacitors failure throughout the signal board(s). Those might look "bloated" and normal, as well. Easy to find and replace "bloated", but to find other bad capacitors, you need to have a technical skills and in-circuit capacitor checker(ESR meter). Plus, good soldering equipment.
definitely, not a "diy" project. You may replace the board, where you find "bloated" capacitors, first and observe the change. It might take care. Usually, "blue screen" means: no signal from tuner. In case of separate tuner sub module, that the place to start.
Good luck,
Alex.

Polaroid FLM 323b LCD sound but no picture. Changed out c32, c33, and c34 caps but it did not fix the problem. None of the other capacitors look bulged on the board. Any ideas where to go next?

Well, you need to find out if it is putting out the 24vdc for the backlights inverter board, if it does, then check to see if the 24vdc is at the inverter board, check the surface mounted fuses on the inverter board, check to see if it has BL_ON signal. One thing about bad caps, they can look normal and correct value but they can have high ESR which is bad for switching power supply circuits.

I have a samsung ln40a550 LCD and had a problem with it , the TV wouldn't turn on. So i did some research and found out that samsung had some crappy capacitors, so i called them and they came and replaced...

I would think if SAMSUNG came out to replace the bad caps and the TV is still not working right, I would think they should fix it correctly, may be the person did not do the good quality jobs and left. What does SAMSUNG say about this? The bad power supply could have unstable DC and could have damaged the other boards inside the set. You will need to inspect the power supply yourself, look to see the soldering works are good and everythings are put back together correctly with correct polarity.
Then you need to verify all the DC output voltages before going any further, it will not be an easy job.

My Polaroid 32" LCD TV just stopped working after only 7 months!!

they use an inferior brand power board. the power board you will fined it has alot of capacitors that will need replacing. in worst case you will need a replacement power board. if you replace the capacitors use 105c types and not the same brand that are on the board these capacitors are like grade F capacitors, really cheap.
