Need more RAM on my HP Brio 8441 but don't know the limit on my motherboard D9840-60007

I have an old computer with an HP motherboard D9840-60007 and I have 304 mb of RAM which is insufficient and I need to add more. Only thing is, I don't know what the limit is.

Thanks for taking the time to answer. I was hoping it would be able to take more than that. Don't particularly want to get another computer as this is only a secondary, rarely used one anyway.

Since it is old. 256 is probably max. I would get a good used computer. Try E-Bay.

Will not boot up

Computer does not boot up The problem maybe the RAM, it is faulty or just needs reseating to make proper electrical contact.
Reseat the RAM and then boot up your laptop. If it still does not boot up then remove the RAM module/s and take them to your friendly computer repair shop and get them to test the RAM for you. Just like you sometimes need a mechanic to repair your car, sometimes you do need a technician to diagnose and identify the fault or faults on your computer. Not only does a good service technican have the experience to deal with this type of problem, they also have the equipment that allows them to look at things the average computer user can't see, and he has a collection of replacement parts that can be used to quickly test individual components on your computer.

HP Pavilion A200n (DF209A#ABA) PC Desktop best upgrades

Your motherboard is limited by it's 400 fsb. The fastest CPU that will work in it is a 2.8Ghz 400fsb northwood chip. You can upgrade the memory to 1GB of pc2100 ddr ram. As for changing out the motherboard, don't do it. The front panel connections will likely never correct correctly with a new motherboard.

Hello Folks, I'm in dire need of help. Nowadays

Hi Joseph.

The Asrock motherboard has 2 memory banks each supporting 1GB PC2100 (DDR266) / PC2700 (DDR333) memory modules (2GB) in total.

I would recommend that you purchase the PC2700 (DDR333) memory because its a little faster than PC2100

The HP memory that you posted a link to will not work as it runs at 400MHz (PC3200) which is too fast and the motherboard doesn't support memory that runs that fast and is the same with the other link too. In both cases you are paying through the nose as you can get DDR ram much cheaper than $118 dollars.

I would recommend to you Kingston Valueram. It is much cheaper and runs very well. You can also get this RAM at Walmart!! It cost around 45 dollars which is a saving of over 80 dollars.

Right click on the link I have provided for you below and open it in a new tab or window, you will nicely surprised at what you see

Good luck and if there is anything else please post back.

Power button does not light, fans run but computer does not send signal to monitor. Replaced power supply, no change. Put in new graphics card, still does not generate video that would allow me to change...

no HP PC stated just a MOBO. must we guess?
no the power button is just 2 wires, a digital line and ground
it must be plugged in to the correct MOBO jack.
in fact i can turn it on with a simple jumper wire, there.
i guess you found the board, in garage sale, just tossed in a box?
if the local vga jack and added in VGA card both fail then its a mobo issue.

im googling for you.
lets see what POPS
Compaq Brio ATX PGA370 New D7580-60003 *
This motherboard is only compatible with Celeron 400 CPUs
With integrated SiS Super AGP graphics controller?
takes 1 good RAM stick.
if the fan fails to stay on, that means the PSU sees errors.
mostly sees shorts on MOBO(remove things to find it)
that one old mobo is rare, now.
is the coin cell at 3vdc, or below 2.9v, if yes, needs new one.
HP has zero data (information) on this old mobo or the COMPAQ BRIO anything.

I want to upgrade my HP BA 600 Mother Board`s RAM Capacity

Hello,
Most likely your MB is too old for this upgrade although there is a chance you could flash your bios (reprogram your computer's brain to accept the new memory providing hp has a flash for it).
here is a link for the latest bios flash for your computer, use at your own risk.

AGP card to replace inboard graphics card

Yes, your GeForce is compatible with the BRIOs AGP 2X port. And there is no problem in using an 8X board in a 4X or 2X AGP slotted motherboard... it would only be a problem if you have a 1X AGP port which is rather old (fisrt agp ports on the market).
