Question about Honeywell Heating & Cooling

1 Answer

Why does my Honeywell thermostat Vision PRO 8000, Model No. TH8320U1008 reflect outside temperature approximately 6 degrees warmer than actual temperature? Is there an adjustment which should be made to a sensor in the outside unit?

Hi, i need to adjust my solution given. You do not have to replace the device. the reason for the temp fluctuation is because of the location of the sensor. it may be close to a metal piece or concrete slabe(brick) that is reflecting the sun rays onto the sensor. if the sensor is in the line of direct sun light, this will affect the temperature readings. if is located close to anything that absorbs heat, it will sense it and send these abnormal temps to the thermostat.

placing the sensor in a good location that if free of direct sunlight will ensure a true reading in the future.

Will a th5000 work with a ruud dual fuel

Are you talking about a pro 5000 Thermostat??? if so then NO it will not work. With this stat you do not have a temperature lock on the heat pump. Say you don't want the heat pump to run below 25 degrees. it won't shut the heat pump. And you don't want the heat pump to run at the same time as the furnace. With the Pro 8000 3 heat and 2 cool thermostat you can lock out the heat pump at 25 degrees outside an turn the furnace on. You will have to install an outdoor thermostat hooked up to the pro 8000 it usually comes with the stat. Honeywell products.

Honeywell TH8320u Vision Pro 8000 Digital keeps calling for heat

Hi,
If the thermostat is not over shooting the temperature than don't worry about it.
These thermostats are very sensitive and will turn the heat back on even before the degrees drop on the display. Often they will shut down before the display changes also. You can change the sensitivity of the thermpstat if you read the directions and change the cycles per hour to a less number. There is an installers program in there that you need to push a combiunation of buttons to get too. The instructions tell you how to do that also.

Hopefully you did not throw away the instruction manual for your t-stat.. :-)

I dont think its your thermostat. The 8000 pro series is relatively new. I think is you furnace you lost 24 Volt power. Check the furnace out first. www.fastacservice.com

Hopefully there are markings on the old t-stat as to what terminal is what.
on the honeywell 8000 use the heat pump labeling and then the standard wiring would be
R- red
AUX-white
Y- yellow
B- O/B
C- black
G- green
There should not be a bare wire, it probably just has the insulation stripped back way too far.
You should probably open the furnace and compare the terminal label in the furnace to the wire color. normally yellow and blue pass through the furnace and are wire nutted to wires going to the outdoor unit. In the furnace the white wire will connect to the w or w1 terminal. also, you will need to set the Honeywell stat to have the following parameters.
170-7
190-1
200-0
other parameters that I did not specify, you may read the manual and make your own decision but I recommend factory settings for the other parameters
