Can Lexmark x2470 scan and print a double sided document?

after reading the manual, http://www.lexmark.com/publications/pdfs/2007/2400/ug_en.pdf, yes it is possible - not that it tells you how to do it though so read on.
Until you become familiar with the process just use one sheet of paper at a time in the printer.
As you know, in the scanner the top right of your document goes to the right hand front corner of the scan bed (the clear window), place the page on the scanner and scan.
Pick up the printed sheet of paper and flip it so the left hand side edge is now in your right hand and the right hand edge is now in your left hand and you are now looking at the blank side of the paper.
Insert the page back into the sheetfeeder.
Flip the page to copy in the scanner so the rearmost edge of the paper is now to the front of the scan bed and the front edge of the paper is now towards the rear (you should now be looking at the page you scanned previously).
Scan the page.
you should have now scanned both sides of one sheet of paper to another sheet of paper.
as your printer does not have a sheet feeder for the scanner you have to do the process manually. hope this helps.

Red and yellow streaks appear in scans, always in the same location. The scanner was cleaned but the repair person could not find any problem with the equipment. Yet the streaks persist. How do I resolve...

execute a calibration to correct the wrong color:
  1. place your photo on the scanner, with a distance of 0.25 inch from the edge of the glass
  2. open Epson scan and select Professionnal Mode
  3. select the document source
  4. select the image type
  5. uncheck thumbnail then click Prevew
  6. crop the area of the image
  7. Click zoom to fine tune the area you see the streaks
  8. select the resolution of 72 dpi
  9. scan your photo

if the problem still not solved, you need to change the scanner unit , there are many dead pixels.

Trying to print from desk to. wants to scan.

You have to check the printer in the control panel and make sure the printer is the default printer, not the fax or scanner. When you press print a window pops up that says which printer it is sending to, if it says fax or scanner you need to change to the printer.

Scanning

As with most scanners, place the document in the scanner for scanning. Open the software that you wish to use. Select "File" from the menu and then "Import". Your scanner interface listing should appear. Click on the device to begin your import from your scanner. Your scanner should scan the document and it will appear in your application. Be advised, Scanners scan in a Graphic format. To edit in a wordprocessor you will need some kind of OCR (Optical Character Recognition) Software to convert the graphics into a wordable form for editing.

Scanning with Canon Pixma MP450

I just did it then! With help from solution posted Feb 08 leave the acual scanner alone can be done from the computer. Steps:

1. Go to - start - control panel - printers & hardware - scanners.
2. Once inside the scanners folder just click once on the scanner icon (mine is called WIA Canon) so it is highlighted.
3. Then click on the toolbar 'File' > 'scan', then select the correct program from the list (mine was MP Navigator 2).
4. Use the MP Navigator program to select "scan photo/document", follow the instructions. At the bottom if the window that is open you can change the document type to PHOTO or DOCUMENT!

This is where the problem lies it is scanning the document as a photo which is why it is coming out as multiple documents.
