Question about Garden

1 Answer

My Toro lawn mower (Tecumseh engine) is quitting on me.

I believe I have a fuel line issue; the mower only stays running when I keep pressure on the primer button. I have changed the fuel, the oil, cleaned the air filter, and it sounds better when it is running, but I still have to keep my finger on the button. I would like to try changing the fuel filter, but I need a schematic to figure out how to do it. I cannot find one online. Am I barking up the right tree?

replace your spark plug. it takes a Champion J19LM. If you left fuel in your tank over the winter then drain your tank and your float bowl. Add clean fresh fuel and it should go if not you need to clean your carb

Lawn Boy mower will not start. New gas and plug.

Is the plug getting wet? if not, try introducing fuel to the intake and attempt to start it again, the interlock on the handle works by killing the ignition fire and applying a brake to the flywheel, this should be a Tecumseh engine, carb troubles are quite prevalent on these, by substituting fuel to the intake you are acting as the fuel supply, if it starts and runs briefly you have confirmed a fuel system issue

I have the same mower and problem. Found out the issue was the carburetor. Pull the Carb and do a quick cleaning. Order the replacement kit prior to working on. My bowl o-ring was shot and I couldn't get a seal after cleaning it out.

You need to check the fuel line for cracks/breaks. Check the fuel filter if it has one. If these two things are o.k., then you will need to clean the carb. It probably has debris in it.
