Unsure about wi-fi capable phones without having data or internet plans on my cell service

I was just about to upgrade my phone and i have ATT. i was wondering if i should get a phone with wi-fi capabilities like the Samsung Jack i637. my question is, can i get on the internet say in my house where i have a wireless router even though i don't have a monthly data plan or internet plan on my phone service? will i get charged for getting on the internet even if it is my own wi-fi and the phone is capable? thanks all for the help.

You should have to have a data plan, I have heard of people using it without a data plan and not getting charged , but I have also heard of some that have, so I would just call AT&T and ask a representative that way if they say you won't get charged and you do have that conversation to lean back on to get the charges dropped. Hope this helps, sorry its not a definitive answer, but it varies. Just call and ask, they would know best.

You do not need an att DATA plan if you have free wifi access. I use a nokia e51 with no ATT data service in wifi hot spots all the time. No problemo.

Cant connect internet

Okay, is this your mobile network (3G/4G) or your home network (Wi-Fi)? Is your service running? You should always be able to access the internet via Wi-Fi even if you don't pay your bill. Try updating your data profile. Are you paying for internet with your current plan? If not, upgrade your plan. These are just a few solutions to many reasons you cannot establish an internet connection.

I cant get an internet connection on this phone, do i need to set it up manually?

Hi,

There are two ways you can connect to the internet over your phone. You can purchase a data plan from a company like AT&T which you can use anywhere. The other option would be to use your phone to connect to a wireless access point(WI-FI).

What are the differences? Wi-fi is usually free unless at a cofee shop etc but has a smaller area in which you can access(you have to be within a certain distance of the wireless router). A data plan cost money and is typically slower, however, you can use it at anytime as long as you have a signal on your phone.

You can click here to access the user guide for your phone.

If you have a data plan purchased and are using the SIM card they gave you then whenever you use a application on your phone that requires internet access it will connect.

If you go to page 83 of the manual it will go over the steps you need to take to enable Wi-Fi. In short, first active Wi-Fi
1) In Idle mode, open the application list and select Settings
? Wireless and network ? Wi-Fi settings ? Wi-Fi.
1) Then under Wi-Fi settings click Wi-Fi networks, select the Network you wish to connect to then click Connect.

Reference the user manual as it goes into more details about the features on your phone and how to use them.

How do i upgrade my htcp3300 so i can use the internet

Your phone is a Windows Mobile 5 device with wi-fi and 3G WAP capability, so does not need upgrading to use the internet.

You can browse the internet a free public wi-fi hotspots. If you want wider web availability, then you need to arrange a data connection with a service provider which you'll need to pay for. If you stay with your current service provider then they will either send you a new SIm or will send the necessary updates directly to your current SIM.

However, from direct experience of my old HTC P3600 which used the same O.S. and had similar specifications, you will find that using the internet is painfully slow and that many pages simply will not work at all. You also won't be able to use any useful modern apps and social networking sites will be totally unsuited or unacceptably awkward to use on your phone.

I'd therefore strongly suggest that you try the wi-fi option first to see how you get on, and if you like it and consider paying for a data connection to bear in mind that in a hotspot you'll be enjoying a far faster experience than you will when using a good 3G connection on your current handset.

How can i use internet while out and about with my 3g phone,iv got it connected to wfi at home

To be able to use the internet capabilities of your iPhone, you must be subscribed to a data plan that is offered by your service provider. Other than that, the only way that you can connect to the internet is to find a free wi-fi zone for you to use. You can always check this on the settings application, click on wifi, and it will find the available wifi routers in your direct vicinity.

Wifi is set up, how do I connect to it without going on line via vodafone? Thanks

When you are connected to an Wi-Fi network, internet data should flow through it, instead of your carrier's data plan. You can verify this behaviour looking at the notification bar: the Wi-Fi icon (blue bars) is in the positition usually reserved for the mobile network one (G, E, 3G, H), and not side by side with it. To be sure that your carrier's data plan won't be used, go to 'Menu > Settings > Data manager > Data delivery' and untick 'Data enabled'.
Hope it works for you.
Anyway, please, let me know if I can help you any further.

Does blackberry 7230 have internet?

Hello.

The BlackBerry 7230 is capable of surfing the Internet with the built in browser of the phone.
The BlackBerry 7230 comes fully equipped with a WAP browser, and additionally an HTML browser for normal web page surfing.. including support for java

However, you need to have a data plan from your provider (T-Mobile, etc) and access the Internet through their network. Does not have Wi-Fi capability, which means that you cannot use a private network, such as home, wi-fi cafe, etc. to access the Internet.

Hope this helps.
