What? Is the disk a normal CD. I assume so. Are you trying to jam something in your floppy drive?

How to erase the hard drive?

You can use a HP recovery disc for your model computer which will return the computer to out of the box condition. You may need to purchase this disc from the HP WEB site.
If you just want to wipe the hard disk clean and sell it without an operating system installed then you can use this program.

Had to replace hard drive. Can't reboot using system restore disks. System recognizes new drive, but error message says disks are not for this computer. Got disks when computer was purchased. No...

You may have just recieved the wrong set of restore discs for your computer. Have you replaced the motherboard in this computer at any point? The discs look for a specific code stored within the motherboard bios to keeps people from using system restore discs to install an operating system on whatever computer they want.

You can try contacting the manufacturer to see if they will send you another set of restore discs. They often charge for these, however, if you explain your situation to them they may send you another set at little to no charge.

Hope this was helpful

How to get OEM discs?

Contact any retail computer-store that "builds" computers from selected components.
They obtain their OEM disks from Microsoft, and re-sell them on the computers that they build.

Inserted a DVD wrong way around (silver side facing towards us) now we can not ejecetd or play it.

Here are some options from best to worst and I recommend that you turn off the computer beforehand

Use a straightened paperclip and insert an end into the auto eject hole. (A little pinhole on the front of most disk drives)
Use a knife or flathead to pry the disk tray open.
If it doesn't have a tray you could use tweezers to pinch it out of there

I have pryed open disk trays before without issue

Im trying to get my pc to go to its original settings factort restore

The only way to restore your computer to factory setting with all the software/bloatware as it came with your computer the first day you start it up, you will need the factory restore disk that came with the computer if one is provide, if not usually with e-machine product, which doesn't provide you with a factory restore disk, you will have to create one yourself using a dvd-r. Usually you will have to go the the emachine recovery/back up management option in your menu programs and use that program to make the factory restore disk, after making that disc, you will need to insert the disc, and shuit down the computer and restart it. It will prompt you to follow direction once the factory restore disk is boot up. Follow the directions and you should be good to go. If there isn't a recovery managment program or a factory restore disk provided, you will need to contact emachine up.... usually they can send you factory restore disk for a small fee.

Computer will not load windows. I have a black

Any windows install disk will work, as long as you have a valid licence and the correct key. If you decide to reinstall and use not an Compaq disk you will have to install the corresponding drivers also.
But i think this is a little complicated for someone without any experience so i think it would be better for you to install a Linux Operating System - and you would be immune to viruses with it.
Go to  http://pclinuxos.com/ and download the disk. Burn it and boot from it - the OS  will run from the disk (it's called a Live-CD). If you like it just launch the installer from the desktop.

My disk drive is stuck and won't open

Hello,

Try first a soft eject: Go to my computer, Point the CD-ROM drive, right click mouse button, and choose eject. If that dose not work, examine the face of the drive and look for a small pin hole. Insert a blunt paper clip in the pin hole and press gently. The drive should open.

Hope it helps.

Dell crashed with cd still in drive - how to remove disc?

To manually eject a CD look for a little pin hole usually below the cd drawer. Unfold a paper clip and stick it in there and push. The cd drawer should come out a little. Also sometimes you can hold down the cd eject button as the computer is powering up and it might eject.

The flashing yellow light seems to be a more serious problem. Do you have any ABCD diagnostic lights on the rear of the machine?
It may be either a bad power supply or bad motherboard (capacitors bulged or leaking). You can visually inspect the motherboard by looking at the capacitors (look like little tiny soda cans). If any are bulging or leaking any fluid then they are bad. They should be perfectly flat on top. If you feel adventurous you can take apart the power supply and look at it also. Just make sure it is unplugged.
