Most likely you will damage the 1Amp power supply if you try using it. Most devices draw the highest currant when they are powering up.

Whiching power supply 12v not working

I guess you mean "switching". It is not worth fixing. It can be replaced. You should find a power supply rated 12V with the Amp rating the same or higher than on the old one. Higher will not hurt, because the 12V and the resistance of the device determines how many Amps will flow. The rating is the highest amount it can safely supply. It is like when you have a 1/2 ton pickup truck, you don't have to carry 1/2 ton all the time.

How can i find a power cord to fit this monitor? The one I have is not getting power to it . It was tested by Best buy.

Most monitors have the same type power cord. You can order them cheap off of Amazon and eBay.
Heres on that should work: http://www.amazon.com/Cables-Go-03134-Universal-IEC320C13/dp/B00005113L/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1298845316&sr=8-1

Monitor L17AMTN flashes WinXP desktop, then blanks.

dmellman, Before you open it up, try this! With fully booted pc and WIN DESKTOP screen up, reconnect the L17AMTN . Have a bright flashlight handy so that when the lcd screen flashes on for 1 second and then goes dark, you will want to check to see if the desktop remains on the screen even though you think it went away. Shine the light 1-2 inches from screen at different angles. Has the desk top completely disappeared or is it still being displayed? Do you know about Cold-Cathode-Fluorescent tubes and their Inverter type power supply? I assume that this unit also has a "lay on floor black box switch-mode-power-supply" that is supposed to supply raw 12v-14v dc to the monitor? This symptom is typical of lcd monitor power supply failure, and or inverter board failure. Not to mention the fact that the CCFT's could be a bit tired from use. YOUTUBE has some videos on taking apart lcd monitors. also do search on web for "bad caps on lcd boards" or "bad caps in lcd monitors". I should think that this Tatung might suffer from swollen cap-itis. get back to me with results of your investigation. Im louie12fix on fixya or lmistyrel@aol.com just nrth of Windy City

What voltage is the dc adapter?

You will need at least a 4 amp rated regulated 12 Volt power supply.
These are commercialy available from most electronics parts suppliers.
They come on a circuit board. You can mount it in your own case and
use the original Viewsonic wire end. If you do a google search for 12
volt reglated power supplies you should find many of these.

However, with a second-hand Sprint AC adapter with 3A,
12v adapter, the screen blinks on and off
intermittently. Obviously there is some difference here between a class
2 adapter and a power supply box.

Make sure that your amp is putting out proper signal to the sub woofer.

If the feed from the amp is okay, the power amp and our the power supply in the sub woofer may have become defective. This will require to be serviced.

The power supply has most likely gone out. Check for 12v and 5v output and also the solder arround d903 and d907. The site www.lcdrepair.us sells the part as well as a repair kit and has instructions.

Mag lt456s power supply bad

The correct one would be 12v @ 2.5 to 3 Amp.
If the set used less current than 1 amp it would be in milliamp (500ma which is half an Amp)etc.

As long as you get one that is 12v @ 2.5 to 3 amp it will be fine.
You could buy one with a higher current rating like 4,5,6 or more Amp's as long as it's 12v DC. The set will only use the current that it needs to function so I higher current won't hurt. It's the voltage you have to make sure is correct. If you do buy one with a higher current rating it will probably last longer because it wont get so hot.
