Question about GE 7.0 Cu. Ft. Super Capacity Gas Dryer - White

GE Gas Dryer Model #dbvh512gfoww heat problems

My dryer is about 3 years old. Recently the dryer went from working fine to having almost no heat.

First, yes I have opened and cleaned all duct work and also opened up the dryer housing and cleaned out the blower motor, lint duct work, etc.. There was a fair amount of lint build up but for 3 years worth of use I would say it was okay.

Now, onto the problem. I start the cycle and the dryer starts with decent heat for a few minutes then loses all heat completely after a few minutes. I look at the bottom peak hole on the underside of the unit for the igniter glow and yes it glows for about 5 secs then shuts off then repeats the process about 30-45 seconds later but doesn't have any real signs of heat.

Seals look good, everything cleaned out and yes my gas line is turned on.

Thanks.

Thanks Vic. Sounds like the problem to me also after all the researching I've been doing. I will order the coils and hope for the best. It will be nice to have a working dryer again considering the money my wife spent on it.

Hi, It sounds like the coils on top the gas valve are bad. If the ignitor glows but shuts off before a flame, the coils need changed.
I hope this helps. If I can assist you further, please let me know.

Thanks
Vic

you need to inspect the ignitor/glow coil that ignites the gas in the burner tube as they are very fragile, then on the burner tube body check the radint sensor eye it can be dirty, clean it first or then replace it,the gas valve boost and secondary coils on the gas valve could have been damaged and they keep the gas valve open to supply gas to the burner, then also check the thermal fuse on the vent blower housing as water could have ruined this component, also check all wire connections for water corrosion too

DRYER TUMBLES BUT WILL NOT HEAT

If this is a gas dryer the MOST COMMON problem would be a thermal fuse usually located in the back of the dryer. you would have to remove the back panel their is only 9 screws securing it. The thermal fuse is going to be white with 2 wires and 1 screw . Unplug the dryer remove the wires from thermal fuse and put them together temporary using tape make sure metal ends make contact and they do not touch any thing else. plug dryer back in and turn on. if every thing works than replace the thermal fuse and clean out your duct
