Even though I can verify a strong signal to all speakers connected, when I run the 2EQ test it cannot locate the rear left speaker. I have the set-up configured to cross over at 100hz using Carver di-polar bookshelf speakers. the right speaker is located.
I double checked that the set up was configured correctly and given that all speakers are audible I am stumped as to why it can find all but that one speaker.
Thank you for your assistance.
SOURCE: Onkyo TX-SR500 Dolby Digital problem
I just read over the problem you were having with your Onkyo TX-SR500 receiver. It sound like the unit needs to be setup for all five channels.Sence your symptom says the diplay shows Dolby D3/2.1. According to the owners manual with the remote control look for speaker setup whin the button is pressed the current speaker setup will be shown in the display. Press the preset/adjustment<> to change the current setting to five speakers. the listening mode will automatically change according to the number of channels you selected. Hope this helps. Radiotech
SOURCE: no signal on subwoofer out in Onkyo TX-SR703(E) - similar to TX-SR803
Hey Tad, I have the same problem and perhaps a solution. I just moved to the other SW "pre-out" and it seems to be working..the green light is on . Whatever works i guess.
SOURCE: Powered Or Unpowered Subwoofers For Onkyo TX-8511
Greg- Powered subs are better than non-powered subs (also known as passive subs), anyway I see the TX-8511 has no sub pre-out on the back panel, so you need to decide what sub you will use and run from the receivers left and right speakers output into a subwoofers speaker in from speakers then back out to speakers, look at the back of a subwoofer and you will see like 4 sets of speaker hookups 2 in and 2 out, what this does is takes the low end or bass and drops the signal to the subwoofer then takes the mids and highs out to your left and right speakers, unless your regular left and right stereo speakers have large woofers a sub is the way to go.
SOURCE: connecting a wii to an Onkyo TX-SR607 7.2
I am experiencing issues like this although with a VCR connected with analog video. I added a BluRay DVD player and all of a sudden I lost my video upconversion from my VCR. I am going to try to reset the receiver to see if this fixes the problem. If not, I don't think it is the receiver issue, I think it may be the fact that enorder for video to pass through HDMI, allot of criteria needs to be met. Certain Handshakes need to happen, especially with the HDCP issues. Most likely I will connect a separate video cable to my Plasma and use a secondary input on the Plasma for the VCR signal. You may want to purchase the Component Video adapter for the wii system as this will provide you with at least 480p and your receiver should not have an issue passing the signal over the HDMI output. Good luck and give me an update.
