Troy Bilt TB 465SS Pony 4 cycle weed trimmer won't start

Low usage Troy Bilt TB 465SS Pony weed trimmer won't start -

It will start and run very briefly with carburetor cleaner/primer...

Pressing the primer bulb, primes the bulb and moves fuel in both fuel lines. It has good clean spark plug & fresh gas. Spark arrestor is clean.

Any advce would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like you need to take the carb. apart and clean it. I like to use a Den Tek Brush, (used for cleaning teeth), to clean the small ports in carb. they work great for this job. Make sure to either clean or replace the small screen in thcarb. as well.

I have a troy bilt string weed cutter 27cc TB21Ec and need to know the oil gas ratio. I just read that it takes straight gas but my cap on the weed cutter where you put the gas says gas/oil mixture

Don't know that exact trimmer, but I always run 40:1 in all my trimmers, chainsaws, etc. That is 3.2 oz. of 2 cycle oil to one gallon of gasoline. I rebuild these machines daily and run that mix in everyting, except when it's actually specified on the machine.

Weed eater does not start

I had a similar problem with my troy-bilt weedeater. I tried replacing the sparkplug, replaced the fuel filter and etc. It still would not start. I looked at the troubleshooting guide in the owner's manual and it listed a possible cause as a clogged spark arrestor. I cleaned out the spark arrestor by taking it off and cleaning it with a wire brush. Now it runs like brand new again. I hope this helps.
