Question about HP Photosmart 2410 All-In-One InkJet Printer

HP 2110 photosmart error states "remove and check printer cartridges". I have done this 3x, they look fine but I replaced both cartridges with new ones but keep getting the same error. Any clue what to do next?

I suggest you run the 'Tap 10' diagnostic test pattern for your HP PS 2600 series printer model...this will display the electrical health of the ink cartridges and confirm that your printer is operational (I am guessing one of the ink cartridge control lines is open).

My HP Photosmart 2710 All In One Printer has the following error: "Remove and check cartridge on right". I have removed cartridge, restarted the printer and my computer. Nothing seems to get...


Is this a new HP cartridge and the correct one for your printer? If it is a refilled cartridge, try replacing with a brand new HP cartridge.

Next try cleaning the contacts on the cartridge and the cartridge carrier. (While you are at it, make sure that there is no left over tape on the cartridge or other issues blocking the cartridge) To clean have distilled water and lint free clothes available. Bottled water and coffee filters will work. Tap water is not a good choice for this. With the printer on, open the printer cover and wait for the unit to stop moving the carriage. Remove the right cartridge and then unplug the printer. Then dampen your first cloth (wring out any excess water with your fingers), wipe the electrical contacts until no excess ink or any dirt remains. Do not touch the ink nozzles.

With another damp cloth, wipe the contacts in the cartridge carrier.

Either let everything sit for 10 minutes or dry with another lint free cloth. Reinsert the cartridge, making sure that the cartridge is fully seated in the carrier. Then plug in the printer. Finally close the printer cover.

Check if your error persists. If it does, try cleaning the contacts again. If the error repeats again, try a new cartridge if you haven't yet done this step. If a new cartridge fails to solve the problem, check if the cartridge is under warranty. If it is, contact HP.

One option is to try printing with the right hand cartridge removed. This will provide grey-scale documents if black is left in. If you only have the color cartridge in place, your pictures may look odd.

hello, let me start by asking a question giving a few tips. Hopefully things will work out.

First, you said, "you have replaced the cartridge. "
Did you just replace it?

Remove the cartridge and make sure you take off the little sticker tab the covers the print head. I have had many customers over the years that have made this simple mistake.

If this is done. I want you to place the ink cartridge back in properly.
Next power off and unplug your printer.

Wait about 1 minute and plug back in a power back on.
at this point and time it should ask you to do a new new cartridge printer alignment calibration page.

If it does not prompt you to do so please refer to your manual on how to manually do one.

If you do not have your manual let me know. I can do further research and help you with that too.

More that likely this simple procedure will reset your printer and help it recognize there is a new cartridge placed in the machine.

If you are not getting an error message, your nozzles may be clogged. If you are using aftermarket or refilled cartridges, insert new OEM cartridges and run deep cleaning a number of times (3x) and the realignment utility. This should clear the nozzles and the cartridge sensors. Secondary market cartridges often do not meet manufacturer's specifications and can clog the printer nozzles. This should clear the problem.

Sounds like your cartridge carriage has gone bad. Before deciding if that is the problem, make sure you have tried known, good working cartridges and still get the error. Try wiping the copper plate on the back of the cartridges as well.

I just replaced a carriage in a photosmart 2110 that was doing the same thing...not recognizing any cartridges I tried to put in it. Problem solved.
