As far as the no event message: tap and drag the box which says "no event" into your open side pull-out menu, the message should then disappear. For the large print use your volume buttons on the side of your phone to adjust the print size while viewing a text message. Hope this helps!
I had the same problem, and the reason is that you have to much sms (usually >2000). You have to delete unnecessary ones, go to enabled applications, uncheck message notification, go back to the home screen, and go to enabled applications to check message notification again. The message notification will display again
1. Main menu
2. Settings / Tools (9)
3. Settings (1)
4. Messages (5)
5. Notification (1)
Set it to "Message & Icon" and it should be back to the way it was before.
Keep in mind that if you are doing something (e.g. typing) when you receive a message, the window may pop up and immediately disappear as a result. I've "missed" some messages that way myself.
Yet another essential detail: It might happen that your Nokia E52 is unable to read old messages from your sim card. At least this happened to me, when putting my old card (used in some 6-7 years old nokia phone) to a new E52. No message was visible but they were there!!! The solution: Put the card into your old nokia (switch it perhaps to the card memory) and then delete the old messages (below some number - you must try the amount- or all of them). Then the things work.
It is in fact an unpleasant incompatibility and Nokia should mend it!
