Question about Dell Inspiron B130 Notebook

Problem with b130 batteries?

Laptop began going stone dead after approx. the first 20 seconds of booting. We needed to use it only with the A/C adaptor plugged in, and it was ok. Then it began going dead even with the A/C adaptor in. The kids put new Dell battery in. I let it charge for a few hours. It was apparently working fine as far as power was concerned, had it running for about 10 minutes on battery power alone. That was last night. This morning, it will not stay on beyond 20 seconds or so, A/C adaptor in or out, it doesn't matter. It stays on just long enough so I can see it's beginning the normal boot procedures, then goes stone dead. The lower left of the lap part has four lights. The first two on left go green immediately after powering up, the third goes orange, and the wireless?, light stays off.

It is very possible that your a/c adaptor/charger is not working well enough to charge or keep you computer runing.
with a new battery you should put it on charge for several hour and charge it to the maximum.
do you know for a fact that the battery is new you put in it?
if the battery is used it may be trash also.
sort out the facts then look for the most obvious.
most obvious at this point it that a/c charger.

My Dell Inspiron B130 won't turn on. The battery light blinks yellow twice then green, but that is the only thing happening.

Hi,
Take the battery off completely and drain the flea power from the laptop by holding down the power button while the battery is off. Hold down the power button for about 15-20 seconds to ensure no power remains on the laptop. Check if your battery has a drain button too. Drain the battery and place it back on the laptop.
Charge it for about 30 minutes before you turn it on. See if it works.

The problem could be with the battery. Try plugging the laptop in with the battery removed and see if it boots. If it does, then the problem is most likely a dead battery; but before you go out and buy a new one, leave the battery out of the laptop for about 24 hours and let it drain its battery, and then give it one last try. If it still doesn't boot, then its possibly the motherboard and the laptop needs to be replaced. Best of luck!

Dell inspiron b130 won't boot up.

Connect an external monitor to the laptop and see if you can see what is happening on that.
It is a possibility that your inverter is faulty and will need to be replaced. They will normally power on for a few seconds, then cut out.
Remember to set the laptop to use the external monitor with the function keys.

Help! My laptop is dead with a new battery

  • The battery you were sold was generic ( not genuine ) and does not work with this PC. Although the specs may be the same, the generic battery is either faulty ( warranty ) or does not fully suit your PC.
  • Best to take the battery to the supplier and explain what has unfolded since you put in the battery, presuming the unit worked fine before hand, and now does not work ( even with an overnight charge ) - you could safely presume the problem stems from the battery itself in one way or another.
  • Some devices ( Laptops, Video Cameras and so forth ) behave badly or simply will not work at all without the genuine makers battery.

Dell Inspiron B130 wont boot

First remove the battery from the PC! Leave it off for a short period of time! about 2min. This allows the computer to erase anything in temporary memory. Place the battery back onto th PC and try to boot it up. The other thing you can do is boot the pc up with just the power cord in place. See if it boots just from the power cord. Sometime the batteries from dell causes the whole entire PC to become unresponsive.

Laptop crashes shortly after boot, power light rapidly blinks red.

Its late, so just to make sure I'm not brain-dead basically your laptop runs fine as long as its powered by the AC adaptor but dies fairly quickly while running via battery. This is very typical of a battery that will no longer hold a charge, not normally a user repairable item. It could also be that the charging electronics (in the laptop) isn't charging the battery, again not a typical user repair job. About your only option short of taking it to the repair shop is buying or borrowing a battery as a test.
