Question about Craftsman 25cc Gas Line Trimmer

Craftsman trimmer won't prime

I have a Craftsman trimmer that won't prime. Replaced the fuel tank and lines because the lines rotted and fell off. No cracks in the primer bulb. It will only **** fuel into the line if I loosen the screws holding the primer bulb on. As soon as I tighten them back up, it will not **** any fuel. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Problem solved! I took the primer bulb off, disconnected the fuel lines, and blew out all air/fuel jets with an air hose... put it back together, and now it runs great. Thanks for the advice though!!

A new carburetor would be simplest solution. You could try disassembling the carb, cleaning and replacing diaphrams, but just replacing the carb would be my choice. What is the model # on the trimmer and I can tell you the part # of the carb you need.

How do the fuel lines in a weedeater trimmer pe550 hook up inside the gas tank

I have an older model that has a weighted filter in the tank. The filter flops around and can 'fall' into the fuel no matter which way you tilt the trimmer/tank. You should have one in your tank. Feed in the new line and make the end come out the gas cap. Push the filter/weight into the end of the fuel line. Pull the extra fuel line out of the tank to match the original position. You should have cut the new line to approximately the proper or same length as the old fuel line with an angle cut so you could push it into the tank.

The fuel line on my Craftsman trimmer rotted away. How do I fish out the rest out of the tank to replace it?

You may need to take the fuel tank off and fish the old lines out with a pair of needle nose pliers And then check out my Tip on this matter:

I just cleaned the carberator and new sparkplug it sounds like it not getting fuel when i put alittle gas in the carberator it starts and obviously stops? on my craftmen weedeater

if it is an older one, the gas lines like to rot away. you can usually tell by looking down inside the gas tank. you can also check to see if the primer is moving the fuel through the lines as you prime it

Fuel lines rotted. Replaced but cannot prime. Primer pushes back into tank causing fuel to leak at cap vent. Would like to obtain parts manual

i recently worked on a chainsaw that i was putting back together and got the primer bulb lines crossed, it was backwards to the way it should have been, i recommend that you reverse the lines, it is an easy mistake to make when it can be counter intuitive like it was in my case

My Craftsman 17cc gas weed trimmer wouldn't start.

Hi There, Check the primer bulb for tare or pin holes. Replace it. Check and clean carb jet it maybe plugged with debree. Also check for spark which you didn't say. Replace with correct plug.
Note; Do not use strong cleaners on rubber seals (O rings and gaskets) They dry up and crack.
If needed use a dabble of grease on seals

Machine will start but won't stay running. give some gas and it runs for a couple of seconds and then dies. i did replace the spark plug but it is doing the same thing. it is a 25cc craftsman weedwacker...

I had a similar problem and it was simple to fix. I hope yours is the same. The line going into the gas tank is not far enough down in the tank.Once you prime it with the primer bulb , it will run till that gas is gone. No fuel from the tank is getting to the carburetor. If you've replaced the fuel lines recently, this may be your problem. If not, try cleaning the fuel tank and the carburetor. Hope this helps.

I re-tubed my trimmer and now the bulb won't prime

I had exactly the same problem. On my weedeater, there is a screen in the carb under the primer bulb that was dirty from the fuel line falling apart. After replacing the fuel line AND cleaning the screen, the primer bulb will move fuel and it runs great.
