New or old construction? New or old pipes? What kind of pipe? What kind of valves?

If you've hooked a new water heater up to an existing system, especially if it's steel or "black iron" piping, odds are you have mineral deposits somewhere, or everywhere, in the line that are severely restricting flow. (running into that in my present abode) If you've double-checked and all of the valves on the hot water line are fully opened, the bad news is you'll need to replace the pipe.

If it's and old heater, try flushing the water heater out through the drain at the bottom. If it's full of sediment, that may solve your problem for quite a while.

Many states building codes require a pressure regulator and expansion tank for hot water heater installation. Check the pressure regulator if you have one as this would only affect the hot water pressure. Adjust or replace. Rap the expansion tank like knocking hard on a door. Hollow sound is good. Dull thud means it needs to be replaced as it is filled with water.

There are a couple of things that tis could be,. the cold water valve going into the heater could be bad or not open all the way or your plumber could have heated the connectin to hot and melted the tube, in which case you need to cut the hot side pipe back off take the adapter off and see if the plastic tube is either melted or has a ball of solder on it

SOURCE: hot water taps and showers pressure very low cold taps ok

there is a little cap on the hot and cold side above the shut off valves, turn the water off at these valve and take the caps off there are filters in there clean them off and reinstall them that should take care of the problem, you might want to flush the tank while your at it hook a hose to the hot side connector and run it out side or to a sump pump then turn on the cold water and flush it out you can also reverse this procedure by doing it on the cold side

Please help, water not hot in shower

If it is hot in the kitchen, then once the water has reached the shower it should be hot. The leads me to believe that the issue is with your shower mixer unit. Nearly all are thermostatically controlled.

Or, if the heater is downstairs and the bathroom is upstairs, you don't have enough hot water pressure. You need a good plumber with a pressure tester (called a manometer).

How can I increase the hot water pressure in my home?

Cold water pressure is what give you your hot water pressure so they should be equal but if you have a restriction on the hot side such as a valve not opening on the hot side or not opening all the way then you will have less pressure or the pipe work on the hot side is not proper. Hard to say but check the valve on top of the hot water heater

I have a problem with low hot water pressure can you help would an elec shower help

1) If possible, it is Best to solve pressure problem before installing new shower.
http://waterheatertimer.org/Low-hot-water-pressure.html

2) If the cold water has good pressure, then Electric shower could fix problem ... but shower would have to be connected to the cold water line and not the hot.

3) Seems the expense of adding a electric shower would be greater than having plumber fix low hot water pressure.
Assuming you have access to plumbing pipes, and this is not apartment building.

Cold water pressure poor in shower. Just had Rheem installed.

You might have clog in water lines.
If shower is only place where low pressure exists, then clog is probably at shower valve.
Disassemble valve and see if clog will flush out.
From there, you have to keep moving back along cold water line looking for pipe filled with sediment or elbow that has obstruction.

If pressure problem is bad at every cold tap, but doesn't affect Hot water, then clog is inside Cold line somewhere after water heater connects to cold line.
Buy a pressure gauge that connects to water hose.
Buy adapter that also fits pipe thread.
For example Brady BTG 100.
Test outdoor spigot for baseline pressure.
Open cold tap inside house and see how much pressure drops.
Close cold line and open hot tap and see how much pressure drops.

Next, move pressure gauge along cold water line.
Take apart pipes and inspect for obstruction at elbow or pipes filled with sediment.
Look for any place galvanized pipe connects to copper pipe, since this will be likely place for obstruction because of bi-metal corrosion.

The thermostatic mixing spool cartridge may be worn out. The low water pressure may indicate sediment in the cartridge as well. This can be easily removed by hand tools
