You should be able to plug an additional webcam if that's what you are saying. In the program you are using, simply select the correct video source to use the other webcam.
If required you can disable the crystal eye webcam in the Windows device manager (control panel).

Hi, having just fixed a non working Acer webcam on a laptop, I suggest trying the following to disable the inbuilt webcam...
Go to control panel, open system devices, go to imaging devices, find Acer webcam, open properties tab and then disable device using the disable button. Alternatively, uninstall the driver and the camera will not work. Best to disable should you ever need to use again.
The oiriginal Acer webcam was providied by the manufacturer as a software program to be used by microsoft! After the warranty expired, I installed windows 7 and the camera disappeared! What does that tell ya!
Good day to you. In regards to your issue usually Acer Laptop users are facing
problem with the Webcam Driver while migrating to Windows 7. While other
devices work with the Windows 7 inbuilt drivers, the Acer Crystal Eye
Web cam device needs an explicit Driver.
You can install this one to make your crystall eye webcam to work. This version works well with windows 7
> After download this file, just extract it to your computer using Winzip. > Then install the driver > Then restart your pc to finalize the installation
After that your acer crystall eye webcam should work. Hope this work for you in resolving your issue. Have a great day.
When you click on the link, click on "notebook" > "Aspire" > 4530 > click on the application tab and the first two downloads are camera driver-software....download and install.
The first thing to check is if your webcam is working correctly. If you're running Windows XP, click on the "start" button, then click on "My Computer". Now double click on "Acer Crystal Eye Webcam". It should now show a screen with video from the webcam (probably of your face in front of the computer).
I had the same problem with the Extensa 5420-5687 as well, I went to the device manager and found my crystal eye webcam (there was a yellow exclaimation point on it) I tried to update the driver software by having it search automatically for the software, but it just said that it was up to date...that still didnt fix my problem. So i tried browsing my computer for the driver. I picked "let me pick from a list of drivers on my computer" I then clicked on "Acer crystal eye webcam" then i hit next, it then installed the updated driver. After that my webcam worked again!
an IT friend told me it's really hard to install the webcam using windows vista so i installed windows XP instead the one released by Amy....i forgot her last name...
such version already has a generic driver for the webcam...all you have to do is to install a generic applicaiton...and it will work....
