I believe it's model number  KSRB22FHWH03, and I'm trying to get the control unit out, but it seems that I have to take the cover off to get to the screws which allow me to take the cover off??!!

  • hopelitwrk May 24, 2009

To remove the form fascia, am I just peeling the flat piece in front, or am I pulling the whole shaped piece off?

Also, can you recommend a source for the air diffuser assembly and a new thermostat?

  • hopelitwrk May 24, 2009

Thanks for your help. What about that form fascia? I'm about the shred it.

HI, when ever you are experiencing a cold control issue, this will point to the thermostat and control board as well if installed. Concerning the lack of cold air coming from the top vent. this can be caused by a faulty damper. if you could give me your model number, i can look up the schematics and confirm my diagnosis.

Ok, i have confirmed my diagnosis. you will need to replace the air diffuser assembly to restore proper sir flow to the frig and, you also, have a faulty thermostat as well. this unit has two separate thermostats. a freezer thermo and a refrigerator thermo. the refrigerator thermo is faulty and should be replace asap.

To access the control, you will have to remove the form fascia in order to access the mount.

I have posted the parts needed above and, have included the control board as well. The main issues here are the diffuser and refrigerator thermostat. the freezer seems to be fine so, the main control should be fine as well.

Yes, you can click on the links above and they will direct you to the source that you can order from online if you wish.

You will have to remove the entire fascia. its clipped on. it will pop off. remove carefully.

there should be a screw on the top right corner and there is a screw on the inside of the box on the bottom part of the control housing. release these screws.

there are also two screws on the back side of the control box. release them to drop the box to expose the PC board(circuit board).

the control box houses just about all the components.(defrost timer thermo, FC thermo,R thermo. etc..)

Dont worry about the front fascia, just approach form the back inside the box. unscrew the screws from the inside of the refrigerator.

Sorry to hear about your problem. Sounds like you have a defrost issue. Hence your unit is not defrosting. All of this apply's if your freezer side has ice or is cold . If not. you have other issues, this does sound funny, but this is why your refrigerator side is warm, or not cooling.

Here is a list of some things that can go wrong.
1. Defective heat coil
2. Defective defrost timer
3. Defective defrost sensor
4. Defective Fan
5. Defective compartment inlet damper (on some models)

You should call a service company to resolve your issue.

Since I tried to help you, Please help me and Rate/Vote on the response. Thanks

My refrigeraer has the freezer on top. the freezer is working fine but the bottom part does not get cold enough. i would like to know if it needs a part or if it ready to discard thank you. my email...

There should be a fan that blows air from the freezer compartment to the refrigerator side. Check to see if you can hear the fan or feel air coming from the vent. Also if the defrost is not working properly ice formation can block the air flow on some models. Also make sure the vent between the 2 compartments isn't blocked.

CHECK THE FREEZER FAN MAKE SURE ITS RUNNING AND IF THE BACK WALL OF THE FREEZER IS FROSTED UP YOU HAVE A DEFROST PROBLEM. I ONCE FOUND SOMETHING FELL BEHIND THE BASKET SO THE DOOR DIDNT SHUT ALL THE WAY, CHECK THIS AS WELL

My refrigerator won't stay cool but my freezer works fine

You have something wrong with the vent going from the freezer to the fridge. You probably have a defrost problem and ice is blocking the vent that goes from the freezer and comes out in the roof of the rerigerator compartment. Replace your defrost timer and bimetal.

Viking freezer and fridge won't get cold enough.

I had the same problem with my side by side. Make sure the vents are not covered inside both the fridge and freezer between the bottom and top so the cold air is able to circulate between them. My freezer had ice covering the bottom vent.

Freezer compartment on refrigerator not cold enough

depending on the temp it could
if the ambient temp get below 32
you freezer wont come on and actually begin to get warm (insulation factor)
but the refer will seem cold because of the low ambiant temp is the temp inside
we go in the refer alot more than the freezer

Kitchenaid KSRA25IL Freezer working Fine - Refrigerator not

many times when a unit has a defrost problem the coils freeze up and do not allow the fresh food side to cool properly...check for a build up of ice on the inside back wall of the freezer compartment. if there is a build up of ice, you have a defrost problem. Also, check to make sure the evaporator fan in the freezer is blowing the air into the fresh food side.

Fridge compartment too cold.

Most bottom mount freezer units work by diverting some of the cold freezer air up to the refrigerator through a duct that vents to the top of the refrigerator A thermostat in the refrigerator closes a flap in the duct when the refrigerator is cold enough.

It seems like the thermostat or flap is not working in your refrigerator. You can troubleshoot this by turning the refrigerator to the full warm setting and turning the freezer knob in the cold direction until you hear the refrigerator turn on. Place your hand near the vent at the top of the refrigerator, if cold air comes out that means the flap is not closing like it should.

If the flap is not closing, it might be frosted open. Pop the plastic vent off (they are usually held in with snaps) and inspect the flap. It should open when the fridge knob is turned in the cold direction and close when it is turned in the warm direction. If there is no frost jamming the flap, and the flap is not moving, the thermostat is likely defective. See the pictures below, one is flap open and the other is flap closed.c0498df.jpg67c95ca.jpg
