Question about Technics SL-1210 Turntable

Deck fades out when i bring the second deck in (records I mean)

Hi. I have got a pair of Technics 1210 mark 2 dekcs, a Gemini PS626x mixer and a standard amplifier. I have had them set uo for over a year and they have worked beautifully. When I moved house I could not set them up for about three months so they sat safe on the floor, un-touched. I've now set them up and when I am mixing a record from the left deck to the right deck, as soon as I bring in the second record on the right deck, the left record fades out and then back in again. This also happens when the record is playing on its own and I am bringing nothing in from the right deck? I am confused. Please can you offer any advise. Thank you

Are you running phono pre amps ? are you running pre amps to each deck or one for both decks , if you are running pre amps maybe the power supply is not sufficient to run two decks anymore [ possibly damaged ] but it sounds like a power delivery failure to me . hope this helps

How do I attach and play a technics record deck to a technics DV250 amplifyer?

The problem you are facing is that the record player audio outputs has a left channel, a right channel and an earth or grounding cable. If this grounding cable isn't attached, you are likely to get a hum sound. I would suggest buying a record player RCA (Ground simulating) cable or you will have to buy an inexpensive mixer that supports record players through which you can channel this record player. Once you have all these, just follow the white and red color coding to attache the right channel to the right socket.

Hi there, i just bought 2 Technics mkii

well" for a start, they need to go into a phono socket, this amplifies them.
i take it you bought 2 decks with the intentions of mixing, so you gonna need a mixer.
MIXER & DECKS SET UP:
1.decks into phono channels 1&2
2. black GROUND wires, go to GND screw on back of mixer
3. RCA master / booth Outputs on mixer to AUX / LINE-IN on amp.(not phono)

1210 mk5 poor sound

If the cartridge is good and your wiring is good. Then it's either got to be a fault on your amp, or there is a pre-amp in the deck itself faulty. Double check that the amp is working, amps have a pre-amp for record decks, they cause trouble a lot.
If you touch the wires that connect to the cartridge, you should get a buzz on either channel (remove them from the cartridge first). If you don't get a decent buzz, and you know that the amp is working fine, then there's something inside the deck causing the problem. In which case take the bottom off and take a look inside.

Channels

Could be one of 3 issues:

1) Tonearm
2) RCA Cables
3) Cartridge/Styli

I generally tell people to try different cartridges first. If that doesn't work, then you know it's either your tonearm or your RCA cables. 80% of the time, it's the RCA cables. It's very hard to determine which one it is at this point without opening her up and putting on some new RCA cables to test. If it works, then your good. If not, then you know it's your tonearm, and will need to be replaced.

Technics 1210 Mk 2 Pitch Fade Problems

You have to understand any sort of calibration meter will only tell you if the pitch control is faulty - or excessively too fast/too slow. If your units are just 'off' then that is a matter of a simple calibration of your pitch controls back to original factory specs. Also, just so you know, the pitch controls on the 1200s are not really calibrated when they leave the factory. They are basically installed, set a default setting, then shipped off. So, you'll often times have 2 turntables with sequential serial numbers, but they are both off.

Here is a tutorial on calibrating your unit back to original factory settings: TECHNICS SL1200MK2 / SL1210MK2 TURNTABLE PITCH CALIBRATION

You can also print this out and give it to the technician who serviced your units. Also ask him what kind of calibration meter, or unit did he use to test? Just curios.
