Dear Rusty, first I want to thank you for what you do,I have a 65kp65ws500tv, for the past 12 months, it has been acting up, first red line, than redish pic ! I was on the way to the store to buy a new TV, (not to mention that I live in thecaribbean, and shopping is a different ball game !prices etc...)but I wanted to believe that something could be done !I than went on the internet, put a quick search phrase, and I got to Fixya, than to you. I than find out that this red line and redish pic, was kind of commun ! your email pop out, I follow the intrction (10min) than turn thatlittle bottom left nub, first the color came back to normal, than I check the red line, they were still there, so I turned slowly a bit more, and than gone ! That's it, the TV has its colors back, hope it will last a bit ! Thanks a mil, that was pretty good ! I have few questions: 1.Is there anyway to adjust pic focus, I won't says that it is bad, but seems like it could be a bit better ? any other tips ? 2.When I srtaed the TV (cold), the pic is only showing on the 2/3 top of the screen, and than slowly take the all screen, that will take about 1 or 2 minutes ? I try to restart TV after red line adjustemnet, it didn't do that, but TV is worn ! I will see if that happen when TV is cold again ! any tricks about that one ? Thanks Philippe

I am not sure what is the "convergent" board but it seems like they are ekectric scomponents to be change ! I got to say that the focus is fine after all.

The only other siyuation I am having, is smaller pic when I start the TV.

If the Tv is cold, like in the AM, when I start it, the pic is about 2/3 of the screen from the top, and than after 1 or 2 min it fill up the screen.

After that it is fine ! is there some adustment somewhere, or anything I should worry about ?

    Any help

Actually it is nothing to worry about this problem.but still if you want to get rid of this problem.there is a solution.that in the tv on all the electric boards.there are minute components .the soldering of that minute components gets bit just dry solder all the all the componets gets tight dry solder you dont have to solder each and every minute component.the hot soldered air comes from the just have to apply that hor air on the circuit boards.many users who dont have dry soldering machine apply hair dryer in place of dry soldering machine.the effect will be one and the same.but in hair dryer you will have to apply it for bit more time.
but as per the situation.if you dont try all this then also its normal at present.and nothing to do this are climatic vanishes as the climate changes.for example --- in winter it comes ,in summer it goes.
please do rate the solution.

To adjust the focus manually there is no such buttons.but on the convergence board there are two IC  on the board.the number is  392k------ 100/150/180.any one it can be.there are two such ic on the convergence board.if any of that is going weak the focus gets misallighned. the cost of the ic is bit negligible.its $10 for per ic.and you can get it at
and very much thaks for keeping updated, thank you for using fixya.keep updated.and please do rate the solution.thank you for appreciation.

My samsung lcd tv is 18 months old and has now developed shadow lines on the screen. Its more noticibale when things klike football and snooker are on as the screen is mostly the same colour is there...

Sounds like burn-in. Yep, LCD TVs can have it too. If you look close, I would bet you will the channels that has the bars down each side line up pretty good with that shadowy line. I have spoken with Samsung about this issue in the past, they will not cover it.

Red Line, intermittent

Dust will not ever cause that problem.

It sounds like your driver board/assy boards/video board inside maybe faulty or the cables have come loose.

The driver board/assy boards feed the display panel with the images.

The video board decodes the input signals, when you say its intermittent I wouldn't say it was the panel more the video board or the driver board/assy boards.

Just call the manufacturer and they can get a service engineer out to resolve it or get a replacement organised for you with the manufacturer with no problems as you are still within your 12 months warranty period.

Red Line on the left side of the screen

This is a serious problem, you have to call SS right away since it is in warrantee. They need to check whether the panel is defective.

No you will need to replace the Convergence Ics and possibly some of the 12 feed resistors. You can get the repair kit for your model at the following link which contains both cinvergence ICs and all 12 resistors plus free instructions with pictures so you can do the repair.

Most likly the signal connector is loose or dirty. (input) this would cause the red, gree, blue or a combination to not be connected.
