Question about GE Profile Spacemaker II PEM31 Microwave Oven
My husband let come chicken nuggets catch fire in the microwave and now it won't cook. We tried flipping the breaker switch and unplugging the microwave to have it reset it's self but it still will not heat up. The plate rotates, lights work and the fan goes on but is louder than normal. Is there a fuse inside the microwave that may need to be replaced?
Not sure on model, couldn't find the model number but the manual is for GE Spacemaker XL Microwave Oven Model JVM1630 or JVM1631.
Sounds like the magnetron has failed. There are some high voltage circuits that feed the magnetron and you can potentially get hurt if you don't know what you are doing. Would recommend you have it serviced by a professional if you want it fixed, otherwise look for a new one since the cost of repair can come close to the price of a new microwave oven.
